Chuck & Doug were really pumping up Kennison. They felt that, at the very least, he should get an interview. Later, I heard him on a radio interview on 930 am. Now, I have not heard Mike speak very much, but he seemed pretty laid back and somewhat subdued in that interview. I have watched Cohen's tv show on Sportsouth and I will admit, he is impressive on camera and in front of a mic. What do you think about Kennison? I'm just not sold that he could succeed at the D1 level, but maybe he deserves a sitdown with Byrne. However, they are presently 15-1 in the GSC, which is a pretty gaudy record, not to mention their overall record. And that is just the norm for them since he has been there. Also, I've said before here that I'm still not 100% sold on Cohen either. He certainly would be a great hire, but not sure he is the best hire available.

we couldnt hire a better baseball coach. I'm not sure his personality is ready for the rest of it though. He is very autocratic and will tell anyone to 17 off in a hurry. But as far as coaching the game, we couldnt do any better.

And i'm proud to say i'm 1-0 against him lifetime

I am a BIG Kinneson fan. However, I have one major concern- his health. A lot of people may not know this, but he suffered a heart attack a few years ago. Also, I met someone who has a son that currently plays for Delta State and according to her son, he seems to be mellowing out.

I will say that the "mellowing out" could be because he basically has done everything he can possibly do at DSU. A new challenge may be something that would be appealing to him- and MSU would be a step up for him.

I wouldn't worry about his recruiting. If he can recruit and develop players at Delta State, believe me, he can do the same at MSU.

That said, I would like for him to at least get an interview for the MSU job.

laid back, that is a huge change for him. In his early career, he was the opposite of laid back, to the point of repeatedly getting in trouble over it.

...former big-leaguer Lenny Dykstra. If I remember correctly, Dykstra was taking BP at a Jackson Prep practice, where Kinnison was the head coach. Lenny wouldn't get out of the cage after his alotted swings, Kinnison told him to "git", and they started scrapping in front of the players and everybody.

This was also when Dykstra was getting in trouble with the MLB brass for his "Boo-Ray" losses in epic games in places like Wolf Lake in Yazoo County. But we're not supposed to know anything about that....
