and Lalor didn't throw in any of them. Is he hurt?

its hard to complain about excuses if we aren't giving one of our veteran guys a chance to throw.

But then again, pitching injuries didn't cost us a single game this weekend unless we have someone who could shut out USC on Friday and on Saturday. And for the record, youth is not hurting us either. Our top three hitters, all batting very nicely are the three starters who are playing for the first time this year.

There is no excuse for this type of play. I can think of reasons though, some of which are the direct result of Polk reverting to his old ways after that CWS run last year. We are back to the old work the count routine and are thus hitting into a ton of DPs. We aren't aggressive. We leave pitchers in too long, which has cost us two games off the top of my head. This team is just not good. That run in June last year was a fluke, plain and simple. For the rest of this current Polk tenure we've been treated to this same brand of baseball and it stinks. Only difference is this year we might not be playing at someone else's regional but rather might miss the tournament alltogether.
