Best bet for RB1 next year?

Who do you think emerges? It's been a while since we've had a true run game threat and a definitive RB1. Lloyd had the potential, but was rarely healthy enough to live up to the potential. Of course, you've also got to have an OL.

I'm interested in learning more about this transfer from Newberry. Also, JuJu will be back. Here's hoping we can pick up a big bruiser from the portal.

Juju didn’t look bad yesterday. I thought he looked better last year than this. Maybe he just needs reps in practice. Not that I think he is the guy, don’t think his frame can handle the beating. A quality change of pace guy.

If there is any truth to the rumor that Rocket Sanders transfers here to follow Dowell then we are set. Rocket is that rare player that can do it all — battering ram, perimeter speed with afterburner, NFL-caliber moves… and durable. Juju is best running outside the tackles and especially as a receiver out of the backfield. The kid from Neeberry can do the heavy lifting. He can MAKE holes which is exactly shat we need. Lovasea’s film didn’t impress me. Hope I’m wrong sbout him. Amos could be a potential goal-line back and/or h back.

The player from Newberry is the real deal. He’s a durable version of Lloyd with a better ability to create holes when the running lanes aren’t there.

Lloyd had a tendency to try to bounce everything outside, which usually works for kids like that in high school. Those kids usually don't do as well in college when they're playing guys equally talented.

I just read several articles about Mario Anderson the transfer from Newberry. He sounds like a really good player. At 5'9" and 210 lbs, he's a carbon copy of Lloyd. He wasn't highly recruited out of Stratford High near Summerville due to grades and some undisclosed incident. Apparently, his high school coach mentored him into cleaning up his act and convinced the Newberry coach to give him a shot. Obviously, he excelled at Newberry but it's a big step from there to the SEC. Hopefully, he'll be a diamond in the rough.

Well, it won’t be Amos. He’s entered the portal. I assume the coaches nudged him that direction.

Of course the RB room is a huge question mark at this time, but IF Sanders transfers in, then it will be a much better group of RBs than we had this year.

Sanders - 6'2"/227lbs, true SEC experience, 2nd leading rusher in the SEC w/1443 yards and 10 TDs, 6.5 yard avg, 28 receptions for 271 yards, 9.7 yard avg, 2 TDs and 2 years to play (if we're lucky)

Anderson - 5'9"/215 lbs, 1560 yards rushing, 7.4 yard avg, 19 TDs, Associated Press First-Team All-American honors for the Division II level. Anderson was also named to the All-American Second-Team by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association.

Carroll - 6'2"/205 lbs with sub 4.40 speed in the 40. There is a reason he was a high 4 star coming out of HS with offers from Tenn, Notre Dame, Auburn, Florida, Purdue, Georgia, LSU, Miami, and Ga Tech. Unfortunately, he committed to UGa and found himself in a RB room that contained White, Cook, Milton, and McIntosh. So, Kirby switched him to CB because of his God-given talents, but we offered him the opportunity to play RB which is what he does best.

JuJu - his last 2 years in our program speaks volumes. Never going to be the featured RB in any SEC offense, but he make the RB room better with his speed, elusiveness, and versatility. Plus, he is an experienced SEC veteran who has shown a surprising amount of durability.

Braswell - 4* elite RB who was recruited by the top programs in the SEC and the country (Bama, Tenn, PSU, NC St, MN, Kentucky, Oregon, Pitt, BC, FSU, Louisville, KS St, Neb, Ga Tech). The 6th highest rated player singed for 2023. At 5'11"/210 lbs, runs a 4.47 forty (Lloyd runs a 4.45 forty).

Joyner (?) - Loggains will find a way to get our best talent on the field.

And fortunately, we already have all but 1 (Rocket Sanders) on board. So, get Rocket, or a similar back from the portal, and our RB room will immediately turn into a strength instead of a question mark.

Quitter. Transfered in from our rival. Let me guess, you are pulling for him??
If you are unable to distinguish between pulling for the players on your own team vs pulling for players on opposing teams, then I don’t know what to tell you.

Also, if you cannot comprehend that all transfers are not created equal, then I don’t know what to tell you.

I won’t engage in debate with someone who is unable to understand the fundamentals of the issue.

Is there reason to believe Sanders might come here? I have not seen anything about him transferring.

Give me 'quitters' like Rattler, Wells, Brooks, Adkins, and Stogner every year.
He demanded an answer from me last night on transfers from rival school. I gave him my honest answer. He refused to answer my question. He reminds me of an ex-girlfriend. She wanted to debate until you backed her in a corner. She would then take the high road.

My wishes for 2023:
a. RTtler comes back. There’s a chance he can seriously upgrade his draft status if he does.
b. Rocket xfrs in from Arly. Our RF room could be special. Sanders, Juju, Anderson, Braswell, Carroll, etc.
c. Add at least 1 elite WR to help our qb out.
d. Add a JC stud LB.
e. Add a stud Fr Edge.
f. Add a great OL coach.
g. Mesh it all together so our O is special & our D takes a huge step up.

A. Anderson. Xfr
B. Juju. Gadget back. Too small to be a feature back.
C. Carroll.
D. Braswell. Love his speed.
That’s about it unless we land someone from the portal.

That's a lot of adding but I do like your math. We need a power back that charges into the d rather than backs in or stutters steps til the d is all over him. The previous year(2001) we had 2 backs like I'm talking about. They are in the NFL now. I never saw that from Lloyd. Granted he was hurt but when he was back on the field this year he was what I described above. I've posted a couple of times I wish the Tank had signed with us rather than Lloyd. Tank would have given us a new dimension plus he's hung with the Aubbies with all their chaos. Oh well. One can dream.
