Not what I expected since there are only a couple of songs that were actually "hits" on there -- but as a career retrospective of one of rock's truly unique artists is spectacular. It was the box set of his first decade of music before box sets were even a thing.

Since we're talking Neil, I'll nominate his "Homegrown" as best never-released or long-delayed-released album (recorded in '74 and '75 and finally released in 2020. I realize that it has to compete with the Beach Boys "Smile" in this category.) I bought it on vinyl and it's been in my regular rotation ever since. Some of those songs made it onto other records, including "Love is a Rose" and "Star of Bethlehem" which appeared on "Decade" and "Little Wing" showed up on "Hawks and Doves."

Yea I would agree with Queen. Then there is elo, billy Joel abba and paul
McCartney. Every song is better than the one before it.

back in the day when i spun / aggregated vinyl, had little use for “greatest hits” collections as there was fun / satisfaction in discovering an artist’s deep tracks ...

however, had one Greatest Hits compilation that stood above everything else, unique in that it:

a) was excellent front ta back
b) documented the truly finest era of the act ( their 80’s comeback “hits” and everything after that was largely garbage
c) was a greatest hits album i would actually reach for / listen to

I don't generally care for greatest hits packages, but I have a German pressing of this that just SLAYS.

I’m surprised that The Beatles 62-66 or 67-70. Hasn’t been mentioned yet.
Also The Worst of Jefferson Airplane is pretty good.

I agree that, like Hot Rocks, The red and blue Beatles albums are both iconic comps. I've never heard the Worst, but I'm sure the Airplane could fill 40 minutes.
