DS got me thinking from another thread. What is the best baseball card you own or your most favorite?

Besides the 50+ Will Clark's I own, mine is a '59 Topps Sandy Koufax. My dad got it for me at a Chucky Mullins silent auction at Hal & Mal's one year. Not sure what it's worth, but since it'll never be sold again, I guess it doesn't really matter.

and there was a minor league player with it. So that's my favorite. And an autographed Will Clark - he was my favorite player growing up.

Best card is the Willie Mays.

Do you know how hard that was to not open when you are 12 years old?

If I'd left George Brett Rookie alone, I'd be in nice shape but alas, preteens don't have much of a future vision.

without the various Rafael Ramirez cards from the 80s. You never knew if he was looking at the camera or not, depended on whether the good eye or the lazy eye was pointing that way.

We could also have a "worst trade ever" category. For example in 1990 I traded a 89 upper deck rookie Griffey for a box of 1990 fleer football cards, which were "rare, low production numbers etc.". I guess the jackass that did the trade with me meant millions of every card and worth 8 dollars per set when he said limited production.

It was always fun to look through the cards of specific players and see how they changed. Tony Gwynn going from a skinny rookie to a dawgstudent-esque blimp later in his career.

My favorite, and maybe most valuable is my 1985 Mark McGwire Topps rookie card. I have no idea how much baseball cards are worth now a days, but that is probably my favorite.

Despite the steroids, Big Mac will remain as one of my most favorite players ever.

but the best trade ever was my 1984 Pete Rose for a Nolan Ryan rookie card. My neighbor was really old, and he had a duplicate, so he went with it- damn I miss that guy.

Plus, I also have the Larry Bird and Magic Johnson rookie card as well. That card is special to me as well.

As far as baseball is concerned, my favorite is my Cal Ripken R/C (1982).

and T209 Willie Mitchell. Those are my favorite because of the obvious ties and the level of difficulty of finding them in great condition.

of Roger Maris, Willie Mays and the Mick. I will drag them out sometimes and just look at them for long periods of time.

Ohhh....and I can't forget the Dale Earnhardt signed card ...that my 4 year old daughter and I stood in the cold weather for hours...to get. I have to disclose that I was a hard-core Earnhardt fan. It started when he was a rookie in the Rod Osterlund car....and really developed when he was driving for Wrangler in the Richard Childress cars. You only had to see him race on short tracks and watch him kick ***, to know the true racing genius that he was.

Enough man love.!

I have 3 unopened 1991 Bobby Thigpen "A Happy Birthday personal birthday message from Bobby Thigpen" cassette tapes. The package also contains a 1992 Topps card. It was orginally priced at $5.99 with a mark down sticker of $3.96 with another mark down sticker of $.99
