Asst. coaches are responsible for an area or they recruit their position. I see benefits of both. If the OL coach comes to my school but I am a WR, I don't really want to hear about the program from the OL coach. But if a coach has an area, he builds a better relationship with the coaches.

The area idea is better. In addition to the relationships developed, it is cheaper.

It has to cost more for position coaches to zig zag across the region (often crossing paths with others on their staff) just to recruit a player of their position. .

The idea is for the position coach to begin the relationship and develop it. If Joe Recruit is interested, he begins visiting with your school where he can start a relationship with his position coach.</p>

I think our assistants should be assigned an area and make the initial contact and then kind of hand it off to the position coach. So both.
