White girls won because there were three trashy low life white refrees. No way that should happen with a team like Iowa. It was a set up from the beginning.
Glad you enjoyed it.Laughed because it won't let me like and laugh. Had to pick one. The Hoosiers comment made me spit my water.
Right up there and possibly beyond the ACC tournament in 1970 and Navy in 1984, and I'm prepared to say beyond. We helped make this stage what it is, which was bigger than this year's men's Final Four - easily. And then we went out and lost on the stage we created. It's terrible. It's devastating.Bad night for Gamecock sports
Unfortunate the way it was phrased isn’t what you’d like to hear. However, I’m sure there are similar rumblings in a lot of places that follow WBB. Dawn has made a big deal about the racial makeup of her team. While there is no doubt that Dawn and those girls will be around idiots and bigots, not everybody that complains about the team is racist. When you are physical, people will complain. Most often there is no racial connotations in the complaint, yet quite often that is the defense. Not appropriate.
Really spoils what should be a high-caliber discussion.Yup - This bigot needs to be removed.
Irrelevant. They were the better team last night.Sorry but top to bottom, Iowa is not a better team.
Pretty ridiculous statement, we were outplayed, outhustled and outcoached. Dawn has only one gameplan, lob the ball inside to the tall timber. Quit pulling the race card, inappropriate.White girls won because there were three trashy low life white refrees. No way that should happen with a team like Iowa. It was a set up from the beginning.
Not sure what that means or why it matters. Are you saying they aren't as tall or athletic? There is more to basketball than banging an out of control basketball hard against the board from two feet out and hoping it eventually drops in after 4 tries (especially when there are 4-5 opponents in the lane) There is, or used to be, the thing called a "soft touch", Alex English had it perfected. Basketball is a team sport, and Iowa played better as a team than we do, so perhaps we should say, ""sorry, but top to bottom, SC is not better at playing as a team"", or perhaps, ""sorry, but top to bottom, SC coaches aren't as good at making a game plan and adjusting at halftime". I saw skills last night I haven't seen in a while, pick and rolls executed to perfection, screens, working their tails off without the ball to get an open shot, basic free throws shooting skills that are obviously practiced a lot, fade-away jumpers to offset the height difference, on and on. Dawn had all week to prepare for the game and she failed at the game plan. Lastly, we were outhustled. How many times did Iowa beat us down the court for a free layup.Sorry but top to bottom, Iowa is not a better team.
So true. So often this year, including last night, I commented during the game that our bigs seem to have no "touch" around the basket at all. Fortunately, they are tremendous rebounders so they get three of four tries, but their shots around the basket often left me feeling like the guy below:There is, or used to be, the thing called a "soft touch",
Yes, I grew up in the Alex English era and he had the soft touch/backspin down to a science. So true. Well coached Iowa team. Another part of the plan was picking the pocket of our rebounders because we have a bad habit of bringing rebounds down low before our follow up shots. Stole a number of them which led to fast break points on the other end.Iowa's defensive strategy was perfect. They knew USC can't shoot outside of 6 feet and they used a defense for that. Excellent coaching by Iowa.
I agree. No Iowa is not the better team. The bogus fouls called against Boston were awful. I put those fouls in the same category as the year we played Tennessee in Columbia and the game was tight and in the last minute our player was at least five yards away from the Tennessee player and the ref calls a charging foul. This is what I compare the officating in this game to. Sorry Iowa is not the better team, I will never admit the truth. I know we (USC) is the better team just on this night for whatever reason we just came up short.Sorry but top to bottom, Iowa is not a better team.
Great game. I just can't understand how you let Clark run the lane over and over and over, and never change the way you're playing her the entire
Anyone that watched the game w/o garnet glasses realized they were the better team last night. A few questionable calls both ways but we were outplayed.I agree. No Iowa is not the better team. That’s probably a bit of a stretch.Right up there and possibly beyond the ACC tournament in 1970 and Navy in 1984, and I'm prepared to say beyond. The emotions will move from one thing to another. That's why humans are able to get on with life after broadsides are sustained. But what has been lost has been lost forever, and what has been lost is monumental. Nothing will ever assuage it.
If anything, I understated it. I try to avoid hyperbole. That’s probably a bit of a stretch.
And out coachedHere we go with the excuses. We were simply outplayed.
The 1970 tournament and the ‘84 loss to Navy were much worse. Just so you know, that is how Maryland beat Iowa in the second matchup in State Park. Bluder took responsibility because she had not prepped the team to handle that defense. Then Iowa beat Maryland again in the semis of the B1G with Maryland using the triangle and 2 again but that time Iowa was ready for it. So, not a bad idea, just obsolete.I said it before the game and still believe a triangle and two with our two best defenders on Clark would have been successful. Keep the ball out of her hands.
I understand the comparison to Jordan and his 63 against the Celtics but you have to take the ball out of her hands in my opinion.
I didn't understand the ending. She is the last player you want to recieve the ball to foul yet we were playing her 1 on 1. I would have put three girls on her to ensure she didn't get the ball or I would have fouled another girl before the ball was inbounded. I didn't like our strategy.
Doesn’t matter. Only the scoreSorry but top to bottom, Iowa is not a better team.
Neither of those teams was as brass-ring worthy as the one that lost last night. The 1970 tournament and the ‘84 loss to Navy were much worse. Had a real chance to make first time history

I believe the’70 team was plenty good enough to win it all. The ‘84 was one of destiny, until it wasn’tNeither of those teams was as brass-ring worthy as the one that lost last night.
With utmost respect for your opinion and deep appreciation for your courtesy, I believe the best athletic team we ever fielded got beat last night.I believe the’70 team was plenty good enough to win it all. The ‘84 was one of destiny, until it wasn’t
Iowa had a plan and executed it. We failed to execute whatever our plan was!Last night that did not matter, Iowa did what they had to do to win, and we did not
It really is as simple as that.
I won’t say you’re wrong. No pinnochiosWith utmost respect for your opinion and deep appreciation for your courtesy, I believe the best athletic team we ever fielded got beat last night.
I do to. One of the greatest disappointments of my lifetime. Hit me hard at the age of 7.I believe the’70 team was plenty good enough to win it all. The ‘84 was one of destiny, until it wasn’t
Always about the refs, huh? That’s our Gamecock motto.Better team won my ***. That same team lost to Maryland by 22 a few weeks ago. You’re telling me the 5 11 girls are blocking Boston and Cardosa shots under the basket with the ball high above their heads? It was an inside hack show and Butch the ref was calling every little touch on us in both halfs. How many fouls did u see get the called under the basket as we were shooting? Maybe 2 out of 25.
Clark is damn good and i think we made an error in not leaving Boston or Cardosa back to help as she drove. Make the two other Iowa bigs have to make 3s. That’s two games in a row. I’ve never seen us let people drive inside without someone backed to help. Some of their other players may have made a few threes but it wasn’t going to be devastating.
stop with the clown post. Going to have to rethink a team that has been to three straight final fours and should have a 4th. We do need another good shooter, but our philosophy has been to the final for a hell of a lot more than Iowa. Take Clark off that team they don’t sniff the tournament.
It’s always the refs, huh?White girls won because there were three trashy low life white refrees. No way that should happen with a team like Iowa. It was a set up from the beginning.
