Wow. Scary scene right now. Player collapsed after a hit (he got up initially). Must be really bad as the color team was speechless and had to go to break. Ambulance on the field. Prayers for that young man.
Play didn’t seem excessively violent. Hamlin actually got up after collision then collapsed.
I’m sick over this. Just awful. I hope he is ok. He got up and collapsed so I am just assuming possible cardiac event or really severe neck trauma. Some people have had severe injuries to where they actually sever their spinal cord from the lower part of their brain and some have survived this.

Not sure what happened, but seeing the replays it reminded me of the soccer player Christian Eriksen when he collapsed at the 2021 Euros. His was heart related and this looked eerily similar to me.
Cardiac or Neuro trauma I’d guess . Maybe a fatal event ? Sad . CPR if that was delivered . Poor survival rate in an out of hospital situation .

There are situations where a blow to the chest can cause a cardiac situation. Hamlin did appear to suffer a hit to his chest as he was making the tackle, so perhaps it's something along the lines of my prior sentence. Horrible situation.
I could see the game being suspended or canceled, or whatever they want to call it. We've all seen players concerned when a teammate is injured, and has to be carted off. I don't think I've ever seen such raw emotion and concern shown by the players (on both teams) for an injury situation in a NFL game. It's obvious that something awful happened to Hamlin. It's got to be hard to get your emotions back in check and go out and compete after observing something like that.
You can’t play at half speed. If they continue and someone gets hurt cause they’re not mentally in the game that would be terrible
May be commotio cordis. Sudden blunt trauma to the chest resulting in cardiac death. Looks like he took 85’s helmet to the chest. This happens once in a blue moon in baseball when a player is hit with a line drive in the chest.
The answer is how can’t they cancel. This is heartbreaking.
Hughes had a heart issue, which I believe was IHSS (idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis). This is a known cause of sudden cardiac death in athletes.

Was just thinking the same thing. Hopefully, this will have the same outcome for the player.
I’m sure the NFL brass is working through the details as we type. This one will be postponed until later. They just need to work on delays for week 18 games too.
