He needs to.I'm with KW and BJ above in their comments. That being said, from what I read, Napier's seat is hot. Yet he has beaten us in each of the past 2 seasons. Makes me think that had we not beaten UT and Clemson in 2022, Shane's seat would be hot too. I hope Shane goes no less than 7-5 this coming season.
That was also my first reaction. Just not the kind of sound byte that sits well when your seat is already hot.To be fair, I'd want to hear a little more on either side of that remark before drawing any conclusions.
7-5 would be a godsend. 6-6 will be good. 5-7 and Beamer is a dead man walking in 2025. He won't be fired unless the wheels come completely off and he goes 3-9 or 4-8 but if he can't win 6 games in 2024 he will be on the clock and the world will know it. Other programs will use it to recruit against us.I'm with KW and BJ above in their comments. That being said, from what I read, Napier's seat is hot. At 6-6, we will probably be 3-5 in conference play. 3-5 in his 4th season????? The SEC is tough. But it will always be tough. I respectfully don't agree that 6-6 will be good in his 4th season. We will just have to agree to disagree on that.7-5 would be a godsend. 6-6 will be good. 5-7 and Beamer is a dead man walking in 2025. I simply cannot see a path to 6-6.7-5 would be a godsend. 6-6 will be good. 5-7 and Beamer is a dead man walking in 2025. I'm being realistic. 6-6 would be a good record for him next season. Better than that and fans should be ecstatic. Beamer is a nice guy and lots of people like him but I really think he is an 8 win ceiling coach. He is 20-18 after three seasons, I think we know what we have with him.At 6-6, we will probably be 3-5 in conference play. 3-5 in his 4th season????? The SEC is tough. But it will always be tough. Me neither, that's why I said it would be good. It will take two upsets to get to 6 wins.I simply cannot see a path to 6-6.
18, I understand why you say that. Let me ask you this: In his 4th season here, should not we expect at least .500 play in the conference? Again, Beamer's 4th season. I look at programs like Ole Miss and Missouri and see what they have accomplished in 4 and fewer years. I also look at Tennessee and see all the players that left the program when Heupel was hired (the standing joke was that even "Smokey" entered the transfer portal back then). I see what Heupel has accomplished in a shorter period of time. Thus, .500 conference play in his 4th season here is not an unreasonable expectation, in my opinion.I simply cannot see a path to 6-6.
It’s a clash of expectations vs reality. 6-6 is certainly a reasonable expectation for season 4. I just can’t see 6 wins on our schedule no matter how I look at it. That’s the reality. My personal opinion, and I know I am going to be disagreed with here, it’s just gonna take a long time if it ever happens for Beamer. I don’t see anybody coming in here and building a winner in three or four seasons. Not even Spurrier did. If we think Beamer might be the guy, it’s probably a seven or eight season process to find out.18, I understand why you say that. It will definitely be interesting to see how all this plays out, especially in comparison to comparable programs. It’s a clash of expectations vs reality. 6-6 is certainly a reasonable expectation for season 4.
