As mentioned above, I'm pretty busy on Sunday. I have several things on my schedule on Sunday morning, and my Eagles are playing at 1 pm. As such, I'm pretty much out for the PBP. I may provide coverage on a few matches on an ad hock basis when I'm around, but if that happens they will be few and far between. As this is a day-long tournament, I encourage any and all of you to jump in with some reporting on matches when you can. As always, a reminder to include the name of the PSU wrestler, the name of the opponent, and the final score. Comments like "great move" don't mean a lot without some context as to who make the move, what it was, who the opponent was, etc.

Steen into championship quarterfinals with 5-4 win over Columbia’s Yanni Vines.

Schindlerdecker is into consis after losing 9-6. Had a 6-3 lead at one point over Charles Farmer of Army but ultimately lost.

Beau Bartlett opens with an 18-3 tech fall in 4:30 over Cole Rhemrev of Indiana.

Levi Haines beat Trae McDaniel 8-2 with three minutes of RT.

Barraclough won by TF 19-3 in 6:58 over Michael Leandrou of Hofstra.

Lucas Cochran with td right at the end of 1st. 3 time Utah State Champ. Amazing a guy from Utah would come all the way to PA to wrestle.

2 nearfall for LC to start the second after starting on top. Good riding and now 4 near fall. 8-0 and LC trying for more. Rode the entire period. LC takes neutral. LC with another TD after being in on the leg early. Escape by the guy from Army. LC still trying to score. LC with another TD. 2:33 in RT
13-1 win. Nice action.

No. 1 Penn State (1-0, 0-0 B1G) crowned five champions at the 2022 Black Knight Open, hosted by Army West Point in West Point, N.Y. The Nittany Lions had 13 wrestlers competing at the event.

Yes. Haines may be in the starting lineup soon. Cael will wrestle the best at 157. We need the points. Haines is very tough. 3 wins over ranked opponent’s.

I don't think they pull his shirt until he starts beating top 10 guys. No reason, psu may have 6 finalists. 4 returning, kerk and Bartlett. I believe Bartlett will make a strong run at the finals. Weight class is not super impressive and he can beat any one in the weight class.

Haines could AA. He’s not going to wrestle any top 10 guys unless given the opportunity. Can’t see BB making the finals but has a shot at AA.

Respectfully, I believe the results today show the RS is the right move. If he is sneaking past BearClaw, then both those guys are pretty even and might score the same number of points at nationals. The issue is one guy probably has a much higher ceiling and needs more time to reach that ceiling.

Agree. However if you ever wrestled you know these guys know each other inside and out from being in the room everyday.
