While I won't bash a guy who's worked his *** off for MSU for over 20 years...yes we probably need to go with a hired gun in this situation.
We need an experienced AD from outside the family.

If you will go back and look its part of a series of articles stating the case for each candidate. That's something like the fourth one they have done
Are they? Pretty sure Mike has done a “making the case” article for several candidates for content. Plus a majority of the replies are basically “no thanks….”.
Since Brackey took over:
- 3-1 record in Football with Egg Bowl Victory
- Undefeated in Men's basketball
- First ever NCAA tournament win in women's soccer
- Strong start for Women's basketball
- NIL fundraising has increased dramatically due to his leadership

Correct, and I assumed that's what they were doing. Didn't the Stanford AD just quit? If so, might could get him.
I couldn't read the article without subscribing, but hopefully you're correct.
But aren't the first 4 irrelevant to who the AD is? Under his watch, yes, but did he do anything to make them happen?

This. Go out there and get the best guy we can. Stop promoting from within m. Your department gets stagnant that way. You can hire a guy that has worked with us in the past but go and get someone with experience at s few other schools and done well.

I don’t think that’s a huge surprised. They almost always default to the easy button.
Only good thing about having Brackey as AD is it keeps him out of the compliance office.
Probably going to finish undefeated, too- and on the outside looking in in the knockout stages.
He’s getting a courtesy interview. That’s pretty much it. He’s been a valued contributor to our athletic department for years and this is probably nothing more than Keenum covering his bases. We have hired a search firm to come up with qualified candidates to present to Keenum for consideration. With all the problems that our (and everyone else’s) athletic departments are facing with free agency (transfer portal) and pay-for-play (NIL) it’s going to be a pretty critical hire and Keenum has to get this right. Therefore, it won’t be an MSU insider.
Agreed. I would prefer someone who has never worked for State currently or in the past.
