If they lose to UNLV, does UNLV get auto bid? I know there's something about the highest ranked conference champion outside of the top 4.

Had a friend raise this very question earlier today. I'd like to know the answer to this too.

Yes, unless Tulane wins and they end up ranked higher than UNLV. They are currently ranked higher than UNLV, but seems like a win over Boise St would vault UNLV higher.

What happens if Boise St looks terrible and/or Jeanty is injured and they lose a close one to UNLV then unranked Army blows doors on Tulane? Army's only loss would be to Playoff Notre Dame 😂

This is the problem I have with this new setup. How do you think Boise State, Indiana and BYU would fair playing an SEC schedule? Maybe they are better than I think. I guess we’re going to find out soon.

Under these rules, it is totally plausible that a G5 champ will get in with a SOS in the 80s or GM higher and not even be ranked in the Top 25. Ludicrous.

Indiana is the biggest joke of the Playoff teams. Period. Not even an appearance in their conference championship and they only beat one team with a winning record of I'm not mistaken.

Nope. The new setup is about $. The top 4 teams get to watch and get ready.

Depends on whether they would be one of the top 5 ranked conference champs. Would Tulane end up ranked ahead of UNLV or not?

Then they'd maneuver stuff around to get one of the little guys in. Look at Boise's ranking now!
TBH, they barely lost to Oregon... their only loss. The beat UNLV pretty handily a few weeks ago. They have the best RB in the country. Granted, the Mountain West isn't the SEC, but it's still a decent conference. Look at ND. No conference, no conference championship, the worst loss in the country and at home, gave up 500+ yards vs crappy So Cal. They are less deserving than Boise.

ND brings a huge tv audience, this is what the committee is focused on.

I wish teams would just refuse to schedule ND. I don't know why ANY SEC or BIG 10 team would ever willingly play them as a non-conference opponent. With the SEC network and Big 10 network money, they don't need the ND money. That would eliminate them from the opportunity to be the joke they always are in the playoffs.
