JFC. So they're getting sued now? Good for that newspaper going after them, I hope they're bringing the receipts.

I don't get how Penn State can have a major project out for bid without BOT approval. Educate me here - has the renovation been approved and you need to approve the bid? Asking major corporations to invest time and money to put together a bid package is a big deal.

Timely.

“Starting with Beaver Stadium, Kraft echoed a long-standing understanding that the project’s developmental phase will be nearly as expansive as the construction itself.”

Yes, I read that originally as ”expensive”. I’ve been trained well here. 😞

Ben Jones should know better. If he doesn't, he shouldn't - IMO - write it:

"Like all of Penn State athletics’ ongoing and most past projects, it will depend heavily on fundraising efforts. Penn State athletics runs a separate budget from the academic side of the university and generally relies on fundraising to pay for most major construction projects."

I don't how you do it Barry.

Here's my response to the BOT:

Subject: Comprehensive Facilitation of Synergistic Paradigm Shifts within Organizational Frameworks

Dear Neeli and BOT,

In pursuit of your commitment to foster a culture of innovation and operational excellence, we are pleased you are announcing the implementation of a forward-thinking initiative aimed at catalyzing transformative synergies within our organizational paradigms.

I understand after conducting an exhaustive cross-functional analysis and leveraging robust data-driven insights, your strategic task force has successfully identified key leverage points for instigating a holistic paradigm shift. This groundbreaking endeavor was designed to seamlessly integrate multidimensional perspectives and promote a dynamic ecosystem of collaborative ideation.

I understand in order to maximize stakeholder engagement and facilitate a fluid transition towards our aspirational state, a meticulously curated suite of synergistic facilitation mechanisms will be deployed. These mechanisms, meticulously aligned with industry best practices, will serve as catalysts for cross-pollination of innovative ideas, thereby propelling our beloved alma mater into the vanguard of progressive thought leadership.

Furthermore, to ensure an optimal confluence of ideation streams, a comprehensive communication matrix will be instituted, fostering a network-centric approach to knowledge dissemination. This will undoubtedly fortify our strategic resilience and empower our teams to navigate the intricacies of the contemporary business landscape with unparalleled acumen.

In conclusion, we are confident that this initiative will usher in a new era of operational dexterity, positioning Penn State as a trailblazer in the realm of visionary bureaucratic evolution. We look forward to your active participation and collaboration as you and the BOT embark on this journey towards a paradigmatic utopia.

Best regards,

Director of Synergistic Paradigm Initiatives

Kudos to you, No, megakudos to you for coining the word "ideation".

If only you included the term "Bovine Scatology" in you epistle to the President and esteemed members of the Board of Trustees for the former Farmers High School, you would have written the Perfect Country Song.

Reading the bid package (UP-Beaver Stadium Renovations | Office of the Physical Plant (psu.edu)) it's clear this isn't a Request for Proposal. They are soliciting actual bids, which is an offer to enter into a contract, yet the proposed work is according to the Finance Committee not even scheduled to be discussed - sorry ROBUSTLY discussed according to what I've been reading - let alone approved until... February. Bids are due January 11 and demolition is slated for Spring 2024? This is the biggest project in PSU history.

Somebody's got their foot on the gas pedal and the BOT is paying lip service to deliberation and oversight. Where is Alvin DeLevie on this? Lubrano? Short?

I thought he'd be pushing for a new stadium. Why not? What's an extra $300M when we could get something that would have minimum upkeep for 20 years? If we're supposed to be in the elite class with Alabama and TSUN, we need to go big. The current project they are pushing is dinky and makes me think they see us competing for B10 mid-table every year for a long time (hey Perdue and Wisconsin, make room).

You believe that this sport will still exist 20 years from now? Interesting.

One would think that they'd evaluate alternatives, including a new stadium, but that's not how the decision process was driven.
