Bowl games are exhibition games

They always have been. The AP poll awarded its national champion before the bowl games until the 70s. The NCAA didn’t even count bowl stats in official statistics until around 2000. Bowls were created by chamber of commerces to get some tourism around the holidays and give players a nice trip and reward for a good season. I say all that to say let’s not get too crazy about tonight. This game means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Yes, it would be nice to win but let’s back off the ledge a little bit with all the hot takes. At least we didn’t lose to a G5 team like Missouri, Florida and Auburn.

Dickless. You play to win and play with pride. Every game means something. Some of you fans have forgotten that. Spoiled

Yup -- all true. And, worse, could have been playing in Shreveport instead

These guys quit, plain and simple. It’s disgusting and if you’ve ever played at a competitive level you know your mindset is to win every time you step on the field.

Someone needed to tell TX Tech this was just a exhibition game then bc they came out wanting to kick our 17ing *** and they did just that for 60 minute and embarrassed our team and our football program!
This wasn’t an exhibition game as bad as you want to believe that!!

We just got skull-drug by a trash team. No excuses, that’s what happened plain and simple.

The game meant enough in the grand scheme of things, that every talking head with MSU was calling it a "spring board" to next year and comparing the game to the 2013 Liberty bowl and into 2014.

O, it's VERY concerning. That wasn't just a glorified exhibition loss, that was a program changing beatdown. In 2021 you have to come back next year swinging or it's over for you as a coach. Keep this loser mentality the hell away from our baseball program.

Except that we normally follow bowl losses with worse seasons.

2012 - 8 wins with loss in Gator to NW, 6-6 in 2013 regular season
2014 - 10 wins with loss in Orange, 8-4 in 2015 regular season
2018 - 8 wins with loss in Outback, 6-6 in 2019
2019 - 6 wins with loss in Music City, 3-7 in 2020 covid year

I'm not sure what I witnessed tonight. Half the team appeared to have been playing with covid - winded, slow, lazy. Forbes is making tackles on the opposite side of the field because 10 other guys can't do anything. Austin Williams trying to field a punt he had no business fielding. Will & receivers not on the same page multiple times. I understand we were missing guys but we've had weeks to prepare and we shat the bed. Wish there was a way to wipe this from my memory. A big 12 defense just had their best performance of the season against us. That was not a good team we played tonight, and they skulldrug us. Kicked out butt, taunted our guys the whole night and we couldn't do anything but take it. What an embarrassment.

The 118th defense against the pass made our passing offense look like the 136th. Their defense wanted to prove something. I was amazed that they were rushing 4 or 5 and our receivers could not get open. On the flip side, they were ripping our defense a new one.

Bottom line, they won the battle at the line of scrimmage which always translates into a win.
