...saw a record breaking high temperature of 67 degrees. We're talking Alaska. On the day after Christmas. Pretty amazing.
Meanwhile, if you are looking for a place where there is ample snow upon which to ski and board, the Lake Tahoe Basin has you covered. The Basin has received about 200 inches (that's about 20 feet) of snow in December 2021, which is more than any other December in the last half century. They had to close Interstate 80 from Auburn, CA to Reno, NV for several days on account of the snow and wind, which was gusting up to 100 mph in some places.
Edit: I meant to say "that's about 17 feet." Not 20 feet. Math was obviously not my strongest area.
67 degrees in Alaska? Climate change continues to topple temperature records.
On Sunday, the temperature in Kodiak, Alaska, hit 67 degrees Fahrenheit, setting a December record-high for a state that has become used to them as climate change continues to rewrite recorded history.
