Pretty much. Got outbid for the top arms by teams willing to way overpay. This is a good fallback IMO, injury risk but elite ceiling on a short deal, paired with a hard throwing bullpen more suited to the postseason than what they had. likely will shortly be followed by an acquisition of an average pitcher that's a workhorse.Typical AA trade. Take on very little money for a big name 5 years past his prime.
I guess we better hope Shawver or Waldrup take a huge step or else Fried and Strider better be flawless in the postseason. Between Morton and Sale that’s a lot of dead arm at the back end of the rotation.
Maybe. But the Sox just signed Giolito for 2 years 38 mill and then traded us their trash.Pretty much. Got outbid for the top arms by teams willing to way overpay. The fans have been making too much of acquiring an elite arm anyway. If the lineup hits likes its built to in the postseason and doesn't disappear like this year, then all they need is 3 healthy arms. If it dissappears again, it doesn't really matter who's pitching.
Giolito for $19M a year sounds like a steal.Maybe. But the Sox just signed Giolito for 2 years 38 mill and then traded us their trash.
There are still arms out there that would be affordable for the Braves but we just got rid of our best trade commodity for a dead arm pitcher that hasn’t thrown 200 innings total in the last 3+ years.
