Wilder's third place: 45.76

1.) He is a freshman. The future for this guy is limitless.

2.) His height. When you stand next to O'neal he seems like he is 6'6 6'7. For somebody that big to run that fast is really something to see.

His stride is the most impressive thing to watch. Its so long an efficient it looks like he is putting these times down effortlessly. He is a workhorse in practice also. if he works half as hard at catching as he has developing his running form he will be just fine on the football field. The kid can jump also I hear. Can you say jump ball inside the 20? I just hope we have a quarterback that has the arm to utilize him.

It remains to be seen if he can get open (there's more involved than just straight line speed), catch the ball, and take a hit. But you've got to be excited by the potential. Cause there's almost nobody who has his combination of size and speed.

good guy as well. He is very down to earth for the amount of success he has had so far as a freshman. You would expect him to be your typical cocky teenager but he is very mature for his age.

at least this time it might have a chance to be similar. Chris Relf to Jamarcus Russell? They smoked too many tea bags on that one...

Hell, if he's that fast, let's put him the backfield as a wingback, just toss him the ball and let him run past everyone.

comparison. I said he was good guy.
Look, I know there is a alot of hype around this guy. I know that he has to back it up on the field. But when have we ever had a WR thats 6'6 with 4.4 speed and a proven competitor on our football team? Don't say Bob Hargrove either. He was never an All-American in another sport.

...into "football speed?" I would just guess he runs close to sub-4.4, with no proof that's true. At the Bin, Michael Wardlaw at BulldawgJunction.com told me he also has a 40 inch vertical. What is to be seen is whether he can get off the line with physical bump and run CB's, then whether he can run disciplined routes and be where he is suppposed to be, and then whether he can catch it.

That's a very good point Backer, and sometimes great sprinters don't translate well to the field, or at least they have to learn how to use their speed on the field. Mike Wallace for us is a good example. They say he runs a sub-4.3 40, and I'll say he's at least pretty close to that. Regardless though, they said that he was playing his freshman year like a player with 4.6 speed. For one thing, he was lacking some in the quickness department, and for whatever reason he wasn't translating his full speed when he was out running routes. Maybe he was thinking too much, and maybe he was just being hesitant in running routes, but he wasn't using his speed to his advantage.

They worked with him last off-season, and obviously, they got him using all of his speed, as he ran away from defenders quite a bit on the deep balls all year.
