It just seems wrong for a college player not old enough to legally buy a beer to be driving a Rolls.

I wonder what happens someday when some OL guy says, 'he's driving a Bentley and I am driving a Ford?' it doesnt seem right, so I'll let him get hit once or twice'
The answer is they should split the nil money equally among all team members. No cars allowed. But college football and the ncaa isn’t that imaginative.

imagination has nothing to do with it. The courts basically mandated it was a free for all, and any attempt to rein it in, will end up in court, and a probable loss.

That's why that happens all the time in the pros ... oh wait, no it doesn't. Every player knows where they stand in the pecking order and have for decades.

Playing devil’s advocate (and hoping nothing happens) but what will ensue if this young man is involved in a serious or even fatal accident with said Bentley?? This is the high wire I see some of these NIL deals walking.

you are correct, in the pros they have a wage scale and a salary cap. In college football, there is no salary cap, and anybody can make anything, so why arent I getting mine coach?

The price you pay to insure your Bentley Bentayga can vary based on your age group. Here are the average rates you can expect to pay.

Year16-19 yr old

Considering how much his family is saving in tuition/room/board.....I am sure they can scare up $700/month to cover it.

He is is from Rancho Cucomonga, CA, where the median income is $92K and the average is $113K per annum.

"You aren't as good"

"Besides, it's not up to me; it's up to the sponsor ponying up the money. Talk to them. You are free to cut whatever deals you wish for the use of your Name/Image/Likeness. Good luck with that."

PSU’s players laugh at Tosu. While Tosu’s players are farting around in Bentleys, our kids are hitting the books.
Could this be what we're up against?

Nittany Nation turns its lonely eyes to you, BobPSU92, to answer that age-old question. Woo, Woo. Woo.

Worth a try nonetheless.

A couple of questions. Who or what is Tosu? And, isn’t it possible to have a Bentley and hit the books? This is getting crazy but PSU better get in the game.

Old Joel Confer needs to step it up and start giving away some Toyota trucks. Same for Blaise Alexander. They got some Kia's on the lot right now at the Hazleton dealership. Get it done

That wouldn't fly. This is all about how much you can make off your name, image or likeness. If you say Superstar QB everyone knows and loves gets as much as some offensive lineman no one recognizes, that's against the very spirit of the whole deal. When Saquon was oohing and aahing college football fans and drawing attention to himself and the program, he was pulling in revenue for the university and the NCAA. Some backup OL shouldn't be making as much as him off their name, image or likeness, none of which anyone but the diehardiest of diehards knows.

My brother in law wanted to buy a new car for his wife and they went to a high end dealership in Cincinnati about 5 years ago. The dealer asked if they’d be interested in a Bentley that had 350 miles on it and came back for a trade. My brother in law was told a Bengals rookie wide receiver bought it but was taking heat from his teammates about owning an old man’s car that he drove it in and traded for the Porsche SUV. No wonder so many go broke within 5-10 years after retirement. These college kids really have no chance if they washout whether due to grades, injuries, family events, health problems or all the other things that interfere with the best laid plans.

that is correct.....NIL is not about every player getting paid. it is about their individual value.....if you are a known star u get $$$$......nobody knows who u are or play low value position no $$$$ for u. NIL is not going to pay the whole team. that is pay to play.

any tax guys here know Stroud's tax on the car. our company dumped company cars for this reason = tax headache

You understand the schools really are in charge of all of this. That sponsors basically have to work thru them, as they want their cut too. Want to show the kid in uniform?? School owns that so you need their permission. Then the kid has an app they use to report the arrangement, which reports it to the school and the NCAA
sounds like a royal PIA for everybody
