Bucs lose Godwin, and the tantrum guy Brown = not quite the same team. Then lose their RT and things change in a hurry. We saw Bama look very mortal in NC game and not the same team that beat UGA a month earlier - lose WRs and DBs. It is no wonder how the bad luck we had in both 2020 and 2021 led to dramatic change in our team. think what would have happened if 2020 was a normal season - no opt outs, not loss of Journey and Noah and Pat. That would have been a top 10 team, but wound up with a losing record. in 2021, the team we had going into Iowa ranked #4 was not the team that finished the season. In fact the team we had at the end of the season would have had another losing record if it played the entire season. Look at what happened in the Outback bowl when we lost six more guys. I know it is coach speak to say "next man up", but the fact is that any team is not the same if they lose. Smart coaches adapt when they lose players, and in reality do not assume the next man up can deliver the same way. Our 2021 results were primarily driven by injuries to Clifford and Mustipher. Those two injuries changed our team. Then in the bowl game we lose 6 key starters and were able to hang in with a team that only lost one guy. A full healthy roster that we had at the start of the season would have actually beaten Arkansas easily. I know we blame the coaches for a lot of issues, but the last two years have had a lot of misfortune.

The Bucs? The team tied for the best record in the entire NFL - and the one currently kicking the $^%& out of the Eagles in the playoffs.

That is your example of why Penn State football should be excused for falling apart? (Did I miss the sarcasm font?)

One of the key differences between good and great teams is depth. Injuries and attrition can be expected. The 2021 team was probably never going undefeated but that loss to Illinois showed a serious lack of depth at QB.

Are you the same guy that told the story of shooting at the Bald Eagle a few months ago?
