....is that this time we were coming off an 8-win season and approaching the new year with the hope that we're finally heading in the right direction..............and then we lose to La. Tech. We're supposed to be at the point where we expect to win these games and win enough SEC games to get bowl eligible.

A long period of excitement and aniticipation only leading to humiliation and frustration. Thanks Sly.

This was on ESPN, so more people witnessed the CF.

At Maine we knew we didn't have a chance at a winning season or being "good". This year we are supposedly on the brink of really turning this things around and we **** the bed.

It was like someone came up to me and said, "I shot your dog. Deal with it." That someone was Sylvester Croom.

Maine was the bigger loss. At home against an 1-AA opponent, that sucked.

But I was still contemplating my position on Croom after last season. This took away all the pleasant feelings I had coming into the year and definitely hurt more. Personally, I am a baseball guy. But this one is gonna sting for a while unless we take down Aub, which I am not counting on.

we need to quit comparing this game to the Maine game - this makes no sense.

We need to remember this was not the first time we lost to La Tech - last time we played them was much, much worse than this.

They have beaten Bama (twice!), Mich State, Cal, and others in recent years.

At some point, let's realize they're good, have beaten us two times in a row, and stand a good chance of beating us again if we don't improve our own shop.

At some point, you need to realize they're not good and have beaten us two times in a row because our teams sucked. Get your head out of the sand.

Despite the pokes at take at you guys from time to time, I generally pull for the Dawgs and most of my neighbors assume that Ole Miss and MSU are interchangeable. (Hell, they even toss USM in there, too. I think they assume there are only enough folks interested in education to support one school.) At any rate, we were moving my son into his dorm and went to dinner afterward. As we walked in, the big screen was tuned to the game. At some point, a one of the patrons said, "This is just unwatchable. Is there a REAL game on somewhere?" They also made quite a few jokes about the stadium, the crowd, and Sly. (You will be interested to know that even out here they think he looks like a walrus.)

Bottomline. It was not as ignominious as losing to Maine, but a few million folks saw it and other than State faithful and Ole Miss gloaters, nobody even noticed the Maine thing.
