The ‘18 team caught lightning in a bottle.
You do not expect an Interim head coach to lead a team to the CWS. And Henderson is the only one to do so according to the NCAA.

Schlossnagle hasn't won it all in 19 seasons at TCU/A&M. Not sure why anyone would be confident he would have done it his first three seasons at State.

Because Lemonis showed that there are times a fresh approach matters that much.
Jake Mangum was prescient when he talked about Lemonis when he was interviewed after his last game for State.
I don’t know if Schloss would have done the same either but you can’t discount having an outside approach.
Unpossible to know any of that. Not hiring Henderson was the right choice though.
Who knows…. Schlossnagle has had some pretty talented teams over the years and never won a title. If Bednar and Sims still come and play at state then it’s possible. I think any halfway competent coach would have competed for a title during those years but there is a lot that has to go right to win one.

He's had some very good teams, but wins the natty with a very mediocre team.
yuup, we earned our title and they just kind of fell into one.
I’m going sell just because it’s too many variables. I think we would’ve been in better shape with Schlossnagle the last 3 seasons.
In thread buy sell. I would buy Lemonis and a NC over better program stability, but no guaranteed championship.
I think the other end of this is hypothetical....take OM natty out and put schloss in as coach, instead of winning the natty, we just show up in Omaha 21, 23, 24...do we still have the headhunters looking for a coach?
Buy. Henderson got us in the year before so why not. No reason Schloss couldn't have done the same.
