We have a new coach by Friday.

I'm buying. Byrne has had more than enough time to evaluate. Its just down to bringing the guy he wants to campus. The pool is too large for this thing to drag out more than a week.

I think Byrne is going to wait until the SR are over at the very least. You never know- "the best choice" might pop up this weekend- like UC-Irvine's coach, who I believe took the Cal State-Fullerton job. We owe it to ourselves to wait.

We have never done a really legit national coaching search in my lifetime, and I think people are getting impatient because this is new for our fan base. Usually, we all know who the HC is by now. Then you also have the fact that we have known that Polk was going to be leaving for a long time as well.

I think there are more interviews to do and even if it is Cohen isn't there a buyout to wait on?

Since I wasn't an MSU student/ fan yet and didn't pay attention when Sherrill was hired, how was that search conducted? I always assumed there was some sort of formal search done before he was hired.

was that LT wanted Bobby Wallace- who was the defensive coordinator or Ray Perkins, the Buccaneers coach who of course used to coach at Bama. Dr. Zacharias wanted JWS, and went after him, and we got him. Perkins may have wanted too much money or something, to. I can't remember.

If that's the case, I'm glad we didn't get Perkins. I was an Alabama fan when he was their HC.

He may not have put us on probation, but I also think it's highly unlikely that he would have achieved the success that JWS did. JWS greatest contribution to MSU was showing that you could win and win consistently at MSU in football.

Are you sure it was Bobby Wallace and not Bobby Collins? Collins is an MSU man too. I heard that Zach and LT actually flew out to meet with the NCAA and they said that Collins was still to hot due to the SMU thing so we got Jackie. I guess that means we went from a white-hot coach with the NCAA to one that was just glowing red.
