Byrne's hiring of Cohen, who was without a doubt a top qualified candidate after a real coaching search, gives you the most confidence in our sports program you have had since the late 90's.

I'm buying. Hiring the most qualified coach instead of taking the easy way out of siding with the old guard...apparent accountability for coaches on the horizon...5 years from now we should be a much better program nationally...I'm even feeling a little wooly, and that takes alot

I'm like you; it takes a lot to get me feeling even a bit sheepish on anything, but today has changed that.

Consider me sold on Byrne. I wanted to see some tangible proof before I bought the hype, and he came through.</p>

I already like this guy. The only thing I see that could go against him is the good-ol-boy, "we's always dun it thisaway heauh" crowd who doesn't like the idea of actually competing for championships. If he can do a better job of standing up to this crowd than Doc Fogelson did, then he'll be VERY successful here.

I personally think, after he turns State into a sports powerhouse, he'll be moving on to bigger and better things.

I haven't felt this good about MSU sports since we took the lead late against UT in the SECCG. Somebody get me some shears.

The old MSU would have given the job to Raffo because he's family. The new MSU gave the job to Cohen because he's the best qualified for the job. I like the new MSU a lot better.
