He was good but you don't replace someone like Michael Brown when it's unplanned.

Ellis Johnson was a known commodity, Charlie Harbison is not. Michael Brown was one player on a team. You can scheme around one player and Derrek Sherrod was pretty good as a freshman. I believe a coach is more important. Charlie Harbison may end up being one of the best defensive coordinators in the nation, but he may be another Ron Cooper. Time will tell.

I just know he has coached some pretty mediocre talent (outside of Pegues) in the secondary the last couple of years into being one of the best units in the country last year. We finished 7th in the country in pass defense.

Anthony Johnson is a huge minus this year. You can not just replace a lock down corner. He will be missed against some of our better opponents.

I don't know why but I have confidence in Harbison. I could be called out later but I just do and have to tell it like I see it.</p>

our defense has been lit up like a christmas tree at times. Croom believes in putting the best talent on defense.
Big sell.

and when it comes to coaches, I'll trust Sly.

Besides, it's all about the Jimmys and Joes and not about the X's and O's.

We've had good defenses lately because we've had good players. We'll miss Anthony Johnson more than we will Ellis Johnson.

I can't say either way for sure. Ellis did a god job for us, the D was way better than the O. Harbison is supposed to be a good coach, but for the DC job, Ellis has the experience.

....know if EJ's loss really hurts. I understand that Harbison knows the defense, but undoubtedly his formation calling will vary from EJ's at times during games. One thing's for sure. If Harbison doesn't work out right, we're in big-time trouble. Our offense will never be able to make up that kind of slack as long as McCroomvey is running the show.
