Buy/Sell If Ole Miss had kept Judkins, they’re playing last night.

Dunno but don’t you know this thought kept them up all night last night and will haunt them for a few years. Worst than Cam did us except he never came here to leave.

And for this, I’ll smile and enjoy his success.

Sell. They probably make it, but they don't win very many games. Some programs just have that it factor when the stage lights get brightest.

Sell. They’re somehow more cursed than we are.

Sell. If they're paying him his NIL, someone else has to get cut, so we don't know which player(s) they would give up by keeping him. Also, they're Mississippi. Put them on the big stage with everything lined up for them and they will screw it up. Just like we would. We're both cursed.

Huge Sell that they would have played for the natty, or even won a playoff game.

But I’ll buy that they would have made the playoff. He would have certainly been the difference in at least one of those 3 close losses they had, maybe 2 of them.

I would phrase it this way: If Kiffin had managed the locker room well enough to retain their best player going into the most important season in program history, Ole Miss would have competed for the national title.

Or, if you don't want to limit it to Judkins: If Kiffin had managed the running back position better, Ole Miss would have competed for the national title.

By competing for the national title, I mean not just making the CFP but being one of two or three teams capable of winning it all.

I love how people excuse Kiffin for letting Judkins walk because he was a locker room problem. Have you followed college football since 2021? Nearly every player is a locker room problem. You are being paid $9 million yearly to deal with locker room problems.

And that locker room problem went to Ohio State and played team ball, sharing carries with Henderson (who had more carries than Judkins). If Judkins couldn't find a home or flamed out like many other players (Chris Marshall, for example), I wouldn't blame Kiffin. But he went to Ohio State and did exactly what any Ole Miss fan would hope to get out of Judkins: team ball and a national title.

The bottom line is Day did what Kiffin couldn't.

Push. I never got the hype for Judkins. Seemed like we always held him in check when we played OM. The backup seemed to do better. Unsure if he would’ve made a difference.

I think it's also partly Ohio State did what Ole Miss couldn't. Ohio State as a program can tell Judkins to **** off if they wanted because there are 3-4 guys behind him just as talented. At Ole Miss, there aren't. Judkins had Ole Miss by the balls. I do agree its on Kiffin to figure it out because he would have made them better.

Good point. Ohio St has another RB just as good, or better, than Judkins. If he starts sulking there, they can just bench him.

They can’t let us have anything!***
I'm just thinking about how many things have had to go wrong for them over the past 12 years to have NEVER made it to the SEC Championship game. Not just 4th & 25 (though that's pretty funny too).

In 2003, they had the 3rd place Heisman finalist and #1 draft pick at Quarterback and their instate rival was 2-10... still couldn't get the job done. Missed a game tying 36 yard FG against LSU, then got the ball back in the last 2 minutes and Eli tripped on his own lineman (and lost to a mid Memphis and Texas Tech team along the way).

2014, they beat Alabama, then their #1 receiver breaks his leg and fumbles the game winning touchdown on the 1 yard line against Auburn on the same play.

2015, they beat Alabama again, but lost to a mid Florida team (yeah, Flahrda won the East, but the East was garbage that year) and 4 & 25 happened against a bad Arkansas team (plus they somehow lost to Memphis again).

2021, they lose to a 6-7 Auburn team while Alabama mounts a 4th quarter comeback to force the Iron Bowl into overtime and wins in 4 OT.

2023, they have their best season ever, but end up with both Georgia and Alabama on their schedule and lose to both.

2024, they lose to two of the worst teams in the conference and, in their game against LSU, allow a game tying touchdown with 27 seconds left and lose in OT.

I'm sure there's more, but man...

If I was them, I could live with 2003. LSU ended up winning the national title and was a strong team. Even if Eli didn't trip, no guarantee they go down and tie or win. All the rest had other circumstances as well, except for 2015 and 2024. It's hard to imagine any team literally having it all right there in front and them and totally blowing it.

2015, even with their losses, they were headed to the SEC title game and likely the playoff. But 4th and 25.

2024, while Kentucky happened early......it still was just....wow. Everything else was right there, even with the LSU/Florida losses.

Awesome. Even after that didn't they get to redo a 4th down at the goal line or something? I know there was some kind of shenanigans, but can't remember just what it was.
Unsure, but any time I can revisit that sequence, I do.

Buy only if Jud could have turned the KY loss into a win. He could have made that difference in one game....hard to tell though,

What I don't get about most of these players......does no one want to actually make a difference for a program and be remembered? Judkins is now just another guy for Ohio State. Does he have a title? Yes. But the money was the same at both places and at Ole Miss, he'd be much more remembered, even if he didn't win a title.

I think back to Cam Newton.....we'd have paid him too. And if he'd done something big at MSU, he'd be an idol forever. But I guess he is at Auburn as well. I think of them as a blue blood but they hadn't really won an outright title at that time since the 50s. But still, they had a program. If Cam had come to State, he'd have helped build ours and be remembered as the icon. Like Dak on steroids.

And on the other hand....sometimes guys need to get away from things. Like Bo Nix leaving Auburn for Oregon.
