Buy/Sell: If we beat Auburn in a swing game to get to 3-0.....

we will go 8-4 minimum, 9-3 maximum. I think we lose to LSU and Tennessee for sure no matter what happens, and since it's the Mississippi State way, we'll drop another one or two just because we can.

The Auburn win jumpstarted our confidence last year. We have more talent, more experience and a number of playmakers coupled with a favorable schedule. That should be good enough for one to two more wins.

If we lose, we get no more than 7 wins. More likely 6.

Just curious...not that I really care but you might go ahead and even it up since you are into replying to your own post.

I don't see Crooms sliding past Ears two years in a row. Their offense will be primed and their defense is likely not to be in the same shape as last year's game. (I think it was 7 or 8 off of the two-deep that was injured) I do feel that we may catch TN off guard. I think Phil has underachieved and this will be his last year at Rocky Top. Be ready for Phat Phil to get Croomed.

I'll buy, but I really think that GT is this season's swing game. Beat them, and we'll be 4-2 halfway through the season heading to Knoxville. At that point, 8-4 would be very obtainable.

We're not going to beat Auburn this year. Last year, Auburn was just coming off a huge upset loss to South Florida in overtime, and were flat against us. Why shouldn't they be overconfident against us? We haven't been even competitive with them since the end of the 3rd quarter of the 2002 game, when we were only down 21-14.

This year they start out with La-Monroe and USM. I don't see Auburn slipping up against those two. La-Monroe is a patsy, while USM has the big reputation as a giant-killer but usually gets spanked by SEC schools.

I see tuberville circling this game as the MState game as the first real test.

we can hang in there and sneak up on just about anybody. I think we'll be pumped for the Auburn game.

I'll buy. I agree on Ten. New QB, so we could sneak up on them and knock them off at their place.

if we were able to win this game it would give our guys a lot of confidence that would beyond the TN and LSU beating that we will likely take.

I also Buy that dawgnautique is a dubmass.

and that's where State better be focused. Sherrill stepped in a pile of dogshit against them early on one year, and Croom ain't immune to it.

I buy, and actually think we have a good chance at winning this ballgame. I mean hell it is a HOME game, and we proved last year that we are a better program now.

......our best start will be 2-1(Auburn's modern offense will school the West Crap Offense), and at worst 1-2 with an opening game shocker in Ruston(don't put it past us). If we do lose to Auburn, we MUST beat Ga. Tech on the road or at best we'll go 6-6 this season(not good enough for this schedule and a $1.7 mil coach). As long as we win the first two games and at least win one between Auburn and Ga. Tech, then I see us going 7-5 at worst this year.

But anyway, I'll BUY your buy'sell for sure. If we start 3-0, we'll at least go 8-4.

Recognizes that Ruston could be a Waterloo for us.
I got cyberspace-emasculated for having mentioned that possible outcome, in another thread.

Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit, before a fall.

Hence, Bama's long slide.

On any given Saturday, just win. Regardless.

USM has the big reputation as a giant-killer
That reputation is based completely on things that happend over 20 years ago. They haven't killed any giants since Favre was their QB (I don't count a win over a 5-6 Nebraska team as killing a giant). If anybody doesn't believe me, just look at the link below.
