i mean really what if sps didn't exist.?.. would people have sent letters and emails to doc explaining their frustration of the state of msu sports if they didn't have a venue to vent and share their disgust? this site has given msu fans/alumni a venue to let their voice be heard without the worry of a moderator deleting something if they deem it too negative. i can assure you the fire LT campaign and emails to the president did not start by people who followed the swan lake school of thought on msu athletics. the members of the sixpackspeak took the lead in expressing their concerns. and if doc wasn't getting emails or being approached weekly or even daily by people who wanted him to take a long hard look at the state of msu sports, would he have had the nerve to fire the one man who has been athletic director for 20 years? probably not. and we all know who would have been hired the day after polk announced his resignation if LT was still in charge. thank you sixpackspeak.

but yeah i'm buying.

The internets contribute to the liquidity of information. It is far easier to gage public opinion now than it was 15 years ago. Sixpack played a role, but I couldn't credit SPS with today's developments.

only because Byrne supposedly reads this board from time to time. But, at the same time I think that this particular decsion was mainly because Greg Byrne took time to listen to MSU baseball fans, not just e-mails, and message boards, but in the stands. Byrne got out there and talked to people, the MSU people voiced their concerns, and now he has done something about it.

That was a big problem with LT, he wouldn't listen to anyone and he always did what was easy- which as far as baseball hires was do whatever Ron said. It didn't matter to him what we thought. LT always thought that we would show up no matter who the coach was. Of course, he was wrong.

most of the pack are 30-somethings and late 20's...We are not the old guard. We were raised on beating Bama in football is indeed possible, basketball can have success, and baseball should should be in the World Series ever couple of years with hosting regionals the norm. And we refuse to accept anything less.

In the last 25 years, we have seen State have its most success in football, basketball, and baseball seasons amd we arent accepting anything less.

17 the old guard. We are Miss State damnit...and that means something

The [17] ing good-ole-boy-guard need to move on and roll with the punches. Its freaking 2008 not 1988. We have sunk to a new low in baseball.

The old-guard-regime must recognize their kool-aid whiskey which they've sipped from their baby bottles for years supplied by Sherrill, LT, and now Ron has now expired and is smelling foul.

[17] the genie-board-sheep and the rest of those kool-aid Polk lovers.

SPS's job is too stir the pot and voice our disdain for the current state of our program. For once, we have an AD who will listen. Cheers to the SPS board and Greg Byrne tonight!

.....in a long "changing of the guard" process in MSU academics and athletics. Foglesong didn't hang around very long, but he's part of it. Bryne's hiring is part of it. Cohen's hiring is part of it.

Maybe more importantly, the fan base is changing. It's a slow change, but it's starting to pick up a little steam. It's like anything throughout history. If you're patient enough, younger generations will eventually correct the mistakes of past generations. I hope that we're starting to see a bit of a "revolution" in MSU athletics.
