I just want to see how the Green Bay fans react to the management's decision.

I hope he wins every game and Favre loses every game.

I'm actually sort of rooting the other way, I want Rodgers to be successful, but Favre to revert back to 2004-2006 form.

I'd like nothing better than to see him make everyone forget about the previous QB.

I'm a Brett Favre fan, only reason I rooted for the Packers, but this entire mess is of his making and is stupid. He retired, the Packers paid their respects and moved on, and then he wants his toys back. I've lost a lot of respect for him. So, I'm leaning with the others. I hope Rodgers does really well and I kinda hope Favre loses enough games to realize what he did was stupid.

I was a GB fan because of Farve but Rogers was caught in a no-win situation and I hope he comes out a winner. That said, if he does fail, it will be funny on the Packers part, not on Rogers. They are the jackasses that totally <17>ed this up. Herm Edwards could have told them "You play to win the game", and with Farve, they were a couple pics away from winning the whole ball-o-wax.

The Packers showed the greatest QB to play the game (statistically) the door. They deserve a Red Sox/Cubs like Favre curse.
By the way I am buying a Favre Jets fathead as soon as they come out.

As you know, old people can't stand cold weather, and it got very cold in the second half. Brett Fav-ray cost the Pack a shot at the Super bowl by getting old when it got cold.

Contrary to popular belief, you don't need an all-world QB to win a Super Bowl. Jeff Hostetler, Trent Dilfer, and Brad Johnson each have more Super Bowl rings than Fran Tarkenton, Archie Manning, Dan Marino, and Jim Kelly combined. John Elway needs to be selling Terrell Davis to the NFL Hall of Fame for carrying him to a couple championships. Even Peyton and Eli Manning relied on stout defenses to help them get their championships.

Even with Favre, the Pack was the youngest team in the NFL last year, and the experience they got in 2007 should carry over to 2008. In the one extended period of regular season play, Aaron Rodgers performed well in a valiant yet losing effort against America's Team.

The bigger problem for the Pack was solved when they got Ryan Grant back into camp. He and Brandon Jackson should take some of the pressure off Rodgers to carry the team.

Favre has been doing this crap every year. Waiting until the last second to decide wether or not to play. Two years ago, he was crying on the field at the end of the last game acting like it was his last. Rogers deserves his chance. Favre is going to get pounded in the AFC.

to get in a pissing match with you but how could you not include the all time leader in touchdowns, completions, yards, consecutive starts, and wins in the discussion. Not to mention the fact he has been MVP 3 times (most ever by any quarterback), won a Superbowl, went to the Pro Bowl 9 times . And before you throw out the obligatory "he has the most interceptions also" line I have to say that most quarterbacks would take that record if they could have all of the other records Favre has. He is not the best ever in my opinion but definitely should be included in the discussion.

They've already booed him, and though I doubt the validity of the story, some radio show said he's even had a six year old kid come up to him at an autograph session after camp and say, "We don't like you because you suck!"

I want him to win the Superbowl MVP and say, "I want to thank my team mates, and the fans of Green Bay can go %+%# themselves."

Playing for the Jets, I think it's a pretty safe bet that Favre's going to lose a lot of games this year.

Would like to see Rodgers succeed, bc I already feel bad for the guy after seeing how the fans in Green Bay have treated him. I believe that it might be in his best interest to ask for a trade after the season, otherwise he will be treated this way his entire career. Unless he his very successful on the stat sheet and in the W column.
edit: I like Brett Favre, but the way things went down was unfair to Rodgers not Favre.

but off the top of my head I'd take Marino (I don't care that he didn't win the Super Bowl.. still the best QB I've ever seen throw a football), Montana, Elway, and probably Tom Brady (he has the rings and 2 SB MVPs.. and he'll have good enough numbers by the time he retires unless it's premature). And I'm not old enough to have seen guys like Unitas. So I guess I'd put Favre in the top 5-8

especially since he's coming out of the shadow of Favre.

Packers better upgrade the rest of their team QUICK. Favre was the only reason they did a damn thing last year.

He thinks Colt McCoy is a not so spectacular college QB and Brett Favre is the greatest QB to play the game.

Critiquing QB play isn't this poster's forte.

I guess he should be in the discussion but like you said, I can quickly rattle off several guys that are better.

I agree with everyone you said. I also never saw Unitas, but everyone who did claims he is one of the best two or three ever, and a lot of people have him number one. I also think Peyton is better. And one day he'll have all of those records, which is the main argument people throw out there for Favre.

So, I really don't think Favre has any business in the top 5.

You telling me not to throw out the line about him having the most interceptions is like me telling you not to throw out the line about the most touchdowns. It's a key part of the argument. Favre played in an era when not turning the ball over was probably the most important thing for a quarterback to do. It's why guys like Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, and Eli Manning won Super Bowls, and not only did Favre turn the ball over a lot, he did it more than any other quarterback to ever play the game.

"He is not the best ever in my opinion"

You just said earlier in the thread that he is, so which is it?

"It's why guys like Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, and Eli Manning won Super Bowls."

Favre won as many Superbowls as all of the guys you listed did......one.

"You just said earlier in the thread that he is, so which is it?"

I said statisticly, which as far as numbers go he is.

I also believe that Manning will break his records and I also think that Brady will win the most Superbowls.

You now believe like the rest of us that he should be included in the debate for best QB of all time, you said so yourself, so lets end this discussion.

Rooting all the way for Favre. I hope he succeeds and wins the NFL. I guess NFL players aren't allowed to change their minds about retiring just like the rest of the real world. How many times have people retired from their regular jobs and then after a couple weeks of not working they realize they want to work and go back to work. Why can't a professional athlete come to the same conclusion? The dude loves to play football. Give him a damn break.
