How much is the buyout for the entire baseball staff? This is ridiculous.
Embarrassing how far Tanner has let this program fall. It may be a topic that has been hashed out a million times this season, but 22-3 deserves to be hashed out a million times more.

I was under the impression this was the last weekend of the season. Unfortunately we have two more weeks of the train wreck.

Lost 30-3 combined today. The utter hiring malpractice allowed under Tanner's watch should be criminal.

Wasted year. Absolute malpractice. I've never bashed Tanner until now, but it simply can't be denied that this mess is fully on him.

To be fair, who could have ever predicted that we would bring in a man who has a successful tenure in the SEC and a national championship on his worksheet and wind up being this dismal? I wouldn't have predicted it.

Those close enough to know could have predicted it. Maybe that's not fair, but his age, his years out of the game, the fact he really didn't have a plan for this season, and the whole "I underestimated the league" thing all speak volumes.

I hope he turns it around but I can't see it. How is he going to get top recruits or top transfers now?

Maybe he's got some magic sauce somewhere.

Meanwhile, ol' Braswell, who Kingston let get away 2 years back is sitting pretty with LSU. He's looking pretty smart right now.

Sadly, something tells me we'd probably lose a series to Mizzou right now and they've won zero conference games thru 8 SEC series this season.

Where are the folks who earlier this season lectured us on the fact that we were all idiots who didn’t understand baseball and that this team was really better than they had looked?

As the season has progressed, it seems they are actually worse than they looked, which is a remarkable feat.

Oh, did not realize yesterday was a doubleheader with a combined score of 30-3.

I guess I wasn't close enough. Worse still, I guess Tanner wasn't close enough, either.🤔

To actually address the original questions, it's like $5 million for Mainieri (1.3 x 4 years, so a little over), another $1 million + for Monte Lee, and a little less than a million for our pitching coach. So a pretty big chunk for a baseball program.

Take it out of Ray’s bank account and move on from this debacle. Tanners baseball hires have been horrible.

Failure to build on 3 consecutive CWS FINALS and back-to-back CWS CHAMPIONSHIPS is a huge failure cloud hanging over our athletic department!

The views of someone (me) close to the program - (posted on TIF either Monday or Tuesday).

I NEVER expected this. I'm just thankful Coop isn't here to see it. Although damn I miss having him to talk to about it.

Pitching is a damn disaster. I knew it would be an Achilles Hell, but FFS!!!! If we had even halfway decent pitching (middle relief/closer) we win a lot of those close ballgames, because contrary to popular belief, overall our approach is better in the box. A lot more "get 'em on, get 'em over, get 'em home" this year. More so than in recent years. And more aggression on the basepaths. Defense looks good too (fielding % is in line with what is has been year in and year out since Ray got here in 1997 - yes I looked it up - I added this today). Or at least all of it did early on. Until the guys realized that they had to carry the load because our pitching sure as hell couldn't do it, and old habits in the box came back like a bad drug habit. Ole Miss weekend showed us what we can do. Pisses me the hell off. And I'm heartbroken too, watching this.

I just don't know where we go from here. I am completely at a loss.

Those CWS championships are getting smaller and smaller in the rearview mirror.
That's how it goes. UPC's 1981 football championship had all but vanished until the two recent ones caused a dramatic reemergence. I hope our WBB championships don't wind up being gnat guts on the back glass.

I think this is accurate. I do not understand the pitching. I do think more effort should be have done, after the new coach hire, to get in better pitching, but what really makes you scratch your head is that every single pitcher who carried over from last year is pitching WORSE. No one progressed, and it's not just that no one progressed, everyone regressed. How do you explain that? And frankly, we have at least two pitchers that have been given enough chance and just should not be here.

If there is any bright side, a few freshmen and a few transfers have looked good, and hopefully they won't run off after the season... Scobey, Hollins, Hall, Woita, Kaczmar, Carrion... we desperately need those guys to return.

I don't think Carrion can return. This is his 5th year.

Pitching is a talent, it isn't a learned skill. There is really no way to teach someone to be a good pitcher. A pitcher can work on his arm strength and can learn some new pitches but someone who isn't born a pitcher isn't ever going to be a good pitcher.
