It's probably a little recency bias but I love the guy too. I wish we had gone inside more with him tonight. We took too many threes in the first half. Feels like we could have had them in foul trouble earlier if we had played inside more.

He kept the crowd in the game tonight when we needed them most. That was a great crowd tonight too.

He gave more than we can expect. Especially 2 threes. We needed Claudell, Kugel or Melendez to pick up a little more slack in the scoring department. Really I think everyone played good enough to win besides Hubbard and Jans.

We need to be working on an NIL deal just to keep Cam in Starkville and not entering any professional draft. Then, when the inevitable “unlimited eligibility” ruling comes down, we sign him on till he’s 35. Whatever it takes.
Need him at Defensive End on passing downs during Football Season. Could you imagine him coming off the edge?

If NCAA allows 5 year players - he could maybe come back next year. This is his 5th year this season. But if they go to 5 years eligibility- he could play a 6th because of Covid year. That’s my hope at least.

I've said on another forum that Cam Matthews has solidified a place on my personal Mt. Rushmore of MSU sports. I go back to 1978 when i was 8 years old. Would bet in that time that I've laid my eyes or at least my ears on 95% of all MSU contests in any of the big three sports. Cam's performance Saturday night was a Top 3 performance. In any sport. Given 4 spots for Rushmore, it has to be Dak, Jake, TA, and Cam.

Damn, that is a long time to live in McArthur Hall.

I also think Cam's place in MSU history, as it relates to Bulldog lore, has to be weighed against the NIL era that he is playing in. The others mentioned didn't have that as a distraction to be disloyal to State. I think Cam's loyalty, his heart, and 1000% motor are generational stuff.

Absolutely, if we had gone inside, we could have won that game. Nobody was on from outside, and we should have gotten away from those shots.

His backward dunk shot (or whatever it's called) was a thing of beauty and inspired the team and the crowd.
