we could be undefeated when Raffo comes in and I still wouldn't be convinced that it means anything at all. Raffo would still be coaching with Polk's players, under Polk's guidance, etc. I just can't believe that he would make any drastic changes in the few games / innings that he gets into. Polk has trained him and he would likely do nearly the same things as Polk.

Now, if Raffo were to get the job next year he may change things up a bit but it still wouldn't be anywhere near the changes that we may see by hiring through the national search.

is have someone that can come in and get rid of the apathetic "that's baseball" attitude that's poisoned our players. Raffo is not the guy to do that. Polk has an innate fear that he'll be sitting in his luxury box at Dudy-Noble while some outsider is doing things to try to help us win and someone will come up to him and say "Why didn't you do that?" He doesn't want to share the success of MSU baseball with anyone. He has already successfully blotted out the memory of Paul Gregory in many of our "fans" minds. Polk wants someone that will continue to do things his way, and isn't as good a coach as him. That's Raffo.

He has made our baseball program into a social experiment on the evil's of the NCAA, and someone coming in and going to Omaha every year would prove that much of what he was fighting about was actually wrong.
