Hunt was getting hammered. Just like Fristoe and then Auger’s flat curveball. We just suck everywhere.

You don’t have enough baseball sense to see what was happening to Hunt. He was incredibly lucky, was missing his spots, and was getting hammered.

Hunt did get hit hard but he should’ve been allowed to come out for the 9th. Even though he was hit hard those where 3 outs. You give him 1 batter, if he gets on the pull him, if he records an out give batter #2 and so on. IMO he was throwing strikes even if they where hard outs, plus we don’t have a real closer, Fristoe isn’t the answer.
Taking out Hunt was the right call. He was throwing BP. If we have a bigger lead, sure - maybe roll with him. But protecting a 2-1 is what closers do in baseball. There’s not a MLB manager that would have left a guy in for a 3 inning save rather than bring in their closer.
Our problem is we don’t have a closer. We’ve got to find someone because we aren’t going to win close games without one. Take Sims off that team last year and do we even make it to Omaha? No way. And we won’t make a super this year without figuring out who can get 3 outs in the 9th inning of a close game.
