All part of the game. If that play happened in the first inning to make it a 1-0 game and Stanford went on to win 5-4, it wouldn't be nearly as much of a story. But I get the heightened drama of the moment.

I would not diminish Stanford making it though. Both teams gotta make the plays.

That's a lonely feeling. Been there, done that. Obviously not to that magnitude. But that moment you realize you just lost the ball in the sky is terrifying.
