Take off school, leave work, overfeed the dog, get out your PSU penis flag and tip your door man generously.

Why?

Because its the best week of the year. It's Rutgres Week! A magical time of the year like Thanksgiving and Christmas wrapped into one!

I give you the tradition, the class, the veritable highest level of fan ever - the Rutgers fan!

Looking forward to the game - expect to see a fair number of PSU fans.

Rutgersal probably won’t make a prediction appearance this year. He has a new gig on the Rutgers Board. Now he posts long detailed after game reports wherein he blindly recounts and praises the many positives of how Rutgers really didn’t get their asses kicked. Still you have to love his positivity.

What bothers me is that Penn State will likely finish at 10-2 and be in the back half of the Top 10, but would have absolutely no chance of beating any team in the Top 5, two of which pummeled Penn State....so a New Years Day bowl game and 11-2 or 10-3 is the at the top of our annual wish lists?

Only one was a boat race, the Ohio State game was lost to turnovers.

Wimsatt is hitting the portal after this year.

Token in conference OOC win in conference game away at home.

Should be a good one.

The top of the list is a national championship, but those are hard to come by. The team put up a fight against OSU and was horrible against Michigan. More importantly, the team looks better now than it has in years, and the future looks promising. It that doesn't make you happy as a Penn State football fan, you are bound to be disappointed.

The only loss by a top 5 team was to the #1 team. #6 was pummeled at home by #5 while. It aint easy.

I don’t believe I have read one poster say this type of season would be at the top of their wish list.

It sure beats 4-5 and 7-6, and pretty much every prediction made for this season. Lots of freshmen having impacts. If they come out of the bowl with 2 losses, nothing wrong with being satisfied.

If this is the top of the list of things that bother you then you live a pretty good life.

In a year wherein we were expected to win 8.5 games, absolutely yes! Next year, assuming most of the team comes back proibably not.

Worst is there was no opportunity for a "good" win this year with Auburn going down the crapper. I guess a narrow escape at Purdue is about it.

Lived in New Jersey from 1976-1997. Never heard anybody outside of a couple of friends who played for Rutgers mention Rutgers football. And this isn’t hyperbole.

That's BS......Before Schiano. Program became considerably more popular when he took over in 2000, took a major step back during the Flood and Ash years, recovered a bit on Schiano's return. Prospects going forward are not good.

Edit: Oops, got it. Before Schiano. I’m not there anymore so I can’t say anything from experience but I just can’t imagine a lot of people caring about Rutgers football.

No Rutgres game would seem complete without an uplifting Al appearance.

So it’s in the nice part of New Jersey? That’s a step up from baseline. ;)

That's just the lingering stench from their fanbase. As we all know, New Jersey itself features a bouquet of distinct yet offensive odors.

Considering where Kyle Flood and Schiano are today can I get you to finally admit at least in part, that Kyle Flood was a profoundly better game day coach and a better recruiter of raw football talent? In other words, if Barchi would have given Flood a second chance and not fired him Rutgers would have been a formidable opponent when compared to the mess we see today.

Considering with Flood it seemed like an NCAA violation at some point was almost a certainty...maybe not.

Flood better than Buffy? Hmmmmmm? Schiano is better at keeping his players out of jail.

I agree, but only because Ashe would have never been given a job he was totally unqualified for. That alone would have minimized the disaster. What’s weird to me is that some Rutgers fans that remember Schiano’s first go around are quite willing to give him into perpetuity to correct the mess. If they still suck ten years from now, many of them will still be blaming Ashe.

You’re correct, Chris Ashe was beyond terrible. I fully understand that Flood cut corners and brought in borderline kids that ended up getting in trouble, some serious trouble. But he did win some key games against Arkansas, Washington State, Indiana, Maryland and North Carolina. Now he’s OC at Texas. I know Schiano runs a clean program which is great, but beyond that he’s done nothing in three years. I would give the 19 point spread this weekend without any hesitation as I see a 50 to 60 point thrashing on the menu.

Norries Wilson is my favorite rutgres coach of all time. They should have kept him. He was fun.
