TexAgs.com was first to report the suspensions, which sources told ESPN stem from a postgame locker room incident.

The suspended players are defensive back Denver Harris, receiver Chris Marshall and offensive lineman PJ Williams.

This is the second time this season that Texas A&M has handed down suspensions to members of its highly touted 2022 signing class, which was ranked No. 1 nationally by ESPN. Receiver Evan Stewart and defensive back Deyon Bouie, along with Marshall and Harris, were suspended for the Miami game for what sources told ESPN was related to a curfew violation.

The Aggies (3-4) have struggled after starting the season ranked No. 6 in the AP preseason poll. They lost 17-14 to Appalachian State at home in Week 2 and rebounded to win their next two games against Miami and Arkansas, but then proceeded to lose their next three to Mississippi State, Alabama and South Carolina.”

This is wildly interesting as a non-Aggie fan. They pay a truckload of money for a coach in a high-profile trouble situation at FSU. They have an odd great season during the Covid year. They extend said coach even longer and for more money. Then they start leveraging NIL deals to attract all kinds of top talent to their program.

This always had the feel of a chain smoker sitting on a powder keg. Maybe Jimbo takes his lumps with the young talent this year and wins big for a couple of seasons, but he may be run out of College Station on a rail before that can happen.

The amount of money sloshing around Texas universities is truly impressive. The oil money alone is something else. If the boosters get too antsy, they can definitely come up with the buyout. The interlocking university - government - alumni networks in Texas are an impressive machine.

My close friend was an OL starter for the Aggies mid 90s.... He really points to lack of player/senior leadership. He says with so many transfers out teams end up with far fewer senior leadership who've been at the school entire career. These 3 knuckleheads were 18 year olds.

I just heard a segment on ESPNU84 that was talking about that incident. Apparently, the players decided to smoke some marijuana in the locker room after a recent loss.

As the discussion went, it wasn't really the issue that the players were smoking mj (cue the "everybody does it and its legal responses"). The issue was one that described the culture of aTm. A culture of individual players who are all about themselves and getting whatever they want with complete disregard to the "team" concept. A bunch of immature individuals who literally said "we don't give a crap about team rules, were going to do whatever the hell we want". Smoking in the locker room instead of waiting 30 minutes until they got back to their dorms was the equivalent of flipping the bird to the entire program.

I hope they continue down the path of buying the best recruiting class each year and ending up at 8-4 forever into the future.

I thought the report was that they did it before a game? Regardless, Jimbo Fisher is a national championship coach with a team littered with top high school talent and is absolutely flopping this season. Things could be a lot worse around here, I'll tell ya hwaht.
