Cards fans, didn't anyone see Villanueva piss Pujols off tonight...

Cards down 3-1, bottom 7, bases loaded, Mather up, with Albert on deck. Mather pops out and Villanueva turns to Cards dugout and talks smack. Pujols starts walking toward Vil and cursing him in Spanish it seemed... and the ump breaks it up. Pujols leads off the 8th (Villanueva out of game) and dents the right center field fence with a line drive double. Cards score 4, Perez K's 3 in the ninth (Molina talks smack to Braun who strikes out as the tying run), and the Cards have some life. We don't play Milwaukee again this year, but maybe this will fire the Redbirds up!
I still think we should have beaned Hall and Braun after they showboated on their homers to beat us right after the All-Star break. What say you?

As a Cubbie, I was glad to see the Cards pull out the win last night. If they had not come back in that game, I was going to go ahead and stick a fork in them. By winning, they've kept their slim playoff hopes alive, though they'll probably need some help from my Cubbies down the stretch. I believe we still have 6 games with Milwaukee.

Wouldn't it be ironic if The Cubs helped The Cards out?

Being a lifetime, die-hard Cub fan, I can never find myself rooting for the Redbirds. However, with the smack and money that the Brewers have thrown around this year, I would love it if the Cubs helped the Cards jump over the Brewers for that Wild card spot.

Yes it would be. However, I'm torn as to whether I'd prefer to see the Cards or Brewers win the Wild Card. On the one hand, I'm more concerned with the Brewers's pitching staff, and overall I think they are probably a more talented team. However, the Brewers are a young team, and for some reason I think the bright lights of the playoffs will get to them before they reach the World Series. The Cards, however, have LaRussa and some players that have been there before, which gives them a little bit more confidence as a playoff team.

That said, my ideal playoff scenario as of today would be for the Brewers to get the Wild Card, the D-Backs to win the West, and the Phillies to take the East.
