As were Namath and Marino; Alabama and Pittsburgh aren’t quite as prissy as we are. See also Watson and Summers. The current level of prissiness would have booted Roche, Ribock, and a couple of others as well.
Bear Bryant suspended Namath. Straightened his @$$ out at Alabama. But Garcia wasn't as good as either of the ones you mentioned anyhow.

Watson was better at UPC than he has been in the pros. His @$$ was straightened out at UPC.

Don Meredith was a good quarterback; Roger Staubach was a better one. Staubach was more disciplined than Meredith.

Connor Shaw was a better quarterback than Garcia even though Garcia was more gifted. It sho' wasn't because Shaw was LESS disciplined.

I'm thinking he was referring to OUR Watson, Derek Watson from the 80's.

I know to whom he was referring. That's why I, wishing to cite another quarterback, mentioned UPC specifically with respect to this other Watson.

I hope that kid swags in like SEC Shorts Vanderbilt 2024.
Me too. But you know what always happens here:
One fourth of the fat old men will rattle sabers because his 'work ethic' doesn't suit.
One fourth of the male Karens will demand benching because he's a little flamboyant.
One fourth will throw him under the bus and reminisce about Shaw (who played with first round draft picks galore) because he doesn't single-handedly superman us to W's right out the gate (remember the social media shade thrown at Sellers early).
And the remaining fourth will embrace him with open arms in hopes he is a warrior like his daddy. There I be.

Good family friend who passed a few years back was a backup qb at alabama in the Namath years. Namath was suspended a couple of games yes, but neither he nor his @$$ were hardly 'straightened out'.

Both the qbs I listed are HOF so yeah, Garcia wasn't apparently that good. But he was more than good enough for here.

He was straightened out as far as his time at Alabama was concerned. I'm sure Bear didn't care what he did once he was working for the Jets and Sonny Werblin.
