Courney Lyles also needs to be replaced. As many SEC games she has called she should have known the NCAA rules instead like Carolyn Peck she reported something that was totally inacurate. But what do you say from a graduate of Tennessee. Say no more. Both announcers flubbed the ejection/suspension rule. Peck is the "expert" commentator, though. She should have known better.

Man….u nailed it. Great synopsisLet's be honest, alot of the announcers and even the crew between games were doing what they had to in order to build up as much drama as possible and develop storylines. They were wanting SC to get beat, not because they didnt like Carolina, but if they lost it built new stories and new stuff to talk about. They would have LOVED to talk about Tenn and LSU in the finals. The game we played against Tenn was so clearly leaning toward Tenn by announcers, it was laughable. They were ALL in LOVE with Jackson and according to them she was the best player in the building. They wanted her and Reese to play for title and they longed for Tenn to be relevant again.
When you have a team like SC that has not lost an SEC game in 2 years, they run out of stuff to say about them and are looking for anything they can find anywhere else. Going undefeated already ran that story dry on us about all new players and still not getting beat. It was time for something, anything else.
I dont take it personal right now, I take what they did as trying anything at all to drum up a story.
However, in a bad way, they sure got one with end of that game. I DO wish they had handled it better and I really dont understand how LSU seems to be coming out rosy in all of this. I truly think announcers and refs are truly afraid of Mulkey and I get it, the woman is truly on the edge of crazy. There is really something not right about her and I thought that when she was at Baylor. Yet all seem to love her but I think some is fear and thats why LSU gets many officiating calls and swayed announcers.
Agreed. The fight has been the lead story on ESPN's women's basketball page since yesterday, not the number of SEC championships SC has won. ESPN courts controversy, and it creates controversy if if it doesn't emerge organically.Let's be honest, alot of the announcers and even the crew between games were doing what they had to in order to build up as much drama as possible and develop storylines. Carolyn speaks well so if she could go to the hood and playground and teach proper English lessons, that would be AMAZING.C. Peck is all consumed with peppering her commentary with "hood" and "playground" references to appeal to an ethnic segment of the audience. In my opinion she is laughable.
No, they did not!!!!- the hair pull and chest bumping was prominent in the first quarter- by design. Mulkey had called for a code Red on Cardoso. Did anyone mention the eject able stupid elbow to the face foul from Reese. Did anyone wonder why Cordoso had a bloody lip after the shove and needed treatment? build up to the outburst and going to protect a teammate. She saw elbows fly and went after the girl. By the way 5'10" is a big girl not a small player.Did the announcers ever once mention the hair pull that was clear as day?
Very well said. No mention of the hair pulling was egregious. Peck has always been pretty strong for us I thought.Let's be honest, alot of the announcers and even the crew between games were doing what they had to in order to build up as much drama as possible and develop storylines. Hell she intimidates me and I’m in the stands or watching her on TV. Everybody is scared of her. I keep expecting her to bust loose and hit somebody like that male ref she pulled a punch on earlier this year (I think). Why do they let her stand on the court the whole game? She uses her demeanor as a weapon. She knows it works.Let's be honest, alot of the announcers and even the crew between games were doing what they had to in order to build up as much drama as possible and develop storylines. Thats exactly the problem. She intimidates and she knows it. I always wonder why some people obsess over being feared rather than respected and that is clearly Mulkey. She wants people to fear her and could care less about being respected. If she knows people are afraid of her then she feels she is free to do whatever she wants and get away with it. I think it is time for someone to hold her accountable. I am surprised some of these kids want to play for her to be honest.Hell she intimidates me and I’m in the stands or watching her on TV. Mulkey's post-game presser may have been the fatal blow in that it exposed a much broader audience to the witch we already know. National press has done some digging and have come to realize this behavior is normal for her and not a one off. Many are now questioning her demeanor/character as it relates to her position of leadership over young women.
No……Peck showed a play before Reese threw the forearm into KCs face. It was the hair pulling instance. KC stuck her arm out a tad, not a shove, to distance Reese from her. Reese pulled her hair. Peck intimated the “shove” may have been the reason for Reese’s intentional foul.Did the announcers ever once mention the hair pull that was clear as day?
Suggestion- don't open threads if you're not interested. I find this solves most problems. Another thing, I don't consider 1 thread regarding any topic as dominating a forum.Goodness gracious,, I hope something...anything...happens with Gamecocks sports soon so a thread about a female announcer of women's basketball doesn't continue to dominate the forum.
She is usually pretty good overall. She repeats herself during our games, but that’s normal. Against LSU, I truly think she just wanted to see an upset cause lets face it….if you’re not us, watching us always winning is getting old. An LSU win would have created down the road drama. Of course, the shoving at the end helped create down the road drama.Very well said. No mention of the hair pulling was egregious. Peck has always been pretty strong for us I thought.
I wish Mulkey would push me….lolThats exactly the problem. She intimidates and she knows it. I always wonder why some people obsess over being feared rather than respected and that is clearly Mulkey. Can there REALLY be this much to say, though, about a chick who announces girls basketball games?Suggestion- don't open threads if you're not interested. I find this solves most problems. Another thing, I don't consider 1 thread regarding any topic as dominating a forum.
Again, if you're not interested, why open and dog fans who are?Can there REALLY be this much to say, though, about a chick who announces girls basketball games?
Aren't you supposed to be copying and pasting something into another thread that you started? Can there REALLY be this much to say, though, about a chick who announces girls basketball games?

Good Lord. You start 100 threads a day. Are you the thread police? Never liked Peck or Courtney Lyle. I think Antonelli and Mowens are way better.
Rather have posters than a dead board! You're freakin all over this forum. It's OK if there is a thread or two you don't post in.
These WBB discussions are special.Did the announcers ever once mention the hair pull that was clear as day?
Yeah, For her standard, her attire was pretty tame on Sunday.I had heard of Mulkey but usually don't watch the women enough to have seen her. I watched yesterday. She kind of reminds me of an old Madame in a house of ill repute. I made a comment about how she was dressed. I was told that if I was judging her by how she was dressed yesterday then I haven't seen anything.
How about winning championships in all sports?Goodness gracious,, I hope something...anything...happens with Gamecocks sports soon so a thread about a female announcer of women's basketball doesn't continue to dominate the forum.
To me, all this drama is reminiscent of Frank McGuire's feuds with the ACC while at UnCarolina (and especially with Everett Case) and USC (especially with Eddie Cameron). Can there REALLY be this much to say, though, about a chick who announces girls basketball games?

By making a derogatory comment about women's basketball makes me question your status as a true Gamecock fan, because a true Gamecock fan wants all sports the schools sponsors, regardless of sport, regardless of gender, to compete well and represent the school well.
Dawn represents us extremely well. I think CCUIrmo nailed with Mulkey - woman is truly on the edge of crazy.
But back to the announcers. Notwithstanding the drama. they should have easy access to look up the rules or have someone on the TV crew know the rules or look them up.
