…. to wrestle Vincenzo Joseph after Final X for true third and make the national team. What additional opportunities does this present for a wrestler? Do they get paid? Do they get access to additional national team practices, clinics, or camps? Do they travel with the team abroad for training and the world championship tournament? What additional future tournaments would he automatically qualify for? Just curious how beneficial national team member designation is to an athlete, even knowing they will not have a chance to compete at worlds.

This is a great question and I have a very incomplete answer. 1) you are on the team. If someone gets hurt or can't compete, it is next person up based on the pecking order of finishing. 2) training, I suspect you can elect to train with the team, which probably includes R&B and a stipend. Might be a nice summer deal and it is always important to be around guys who are better than you. 3) resume, you want to build a brand, you might as well start tacking on accolades and being on the US Senior World Team is a pretty big deal for a college kid. While our society loves folks who run their mouths because of the short term attention it brings and it certainly translates into the theater of MMA.

It would be a great opportunity for Carter to get some additional exposure. Running his mouth about Chance....whatever it was.....is pretty short sighted if he beats Cenzo for third. Why wouldn't he want to go train with Jordan and Chance...... and the the other guys at the other weights. Pissing in the pool isn't the best idea, but whatever.

I am glad Chance has his act together and it will be fascinating to see how this all plays out.

The below article (or link; not sure how it will appear) answers (to some extent) the questions that you raised.
