For all the folks who follow girls basketball, surprised this hasn’t been posted.

I don’t really find it offensive…more humorous. But Dawn was ticked and demanded an apology and got one.

“In the CBS Sports Minute read from JR Jackson, known as JR Sport Brief, he brought up March Madness and listed players who made the women's NCAA Tournament exciting.”

“I'm more excited for the women's tournament," he said in the ad. "I'm ready for Angel Reese, Caitlin Clark and the giant Brazilian woman that knocks people over."

Angel Reese better not pull her hair again or Coach Mulkey may get her wish, and I’m taking Cardoso in the that fight. Bring on the rematch

That's body shaming and hate speech all rolled into one. Somebody should be upset. lol

Yeah, I don't really see what's offensive about it. Was it the reference to her height, nationality, or the LSU altercation? It was just a funny comment. People need to have a sense of humor.

It's pretty stupid that they can't just say 'Cardoso' instead of "the giant Brazilian woman" and not mention that she's a prolific scorer and a great player - not someone who knocks people over.
They guy didn't say "the white girl who is obviously Chuck Norris' daughter" or something similarly stupid about Clark.
Instead he focused on irrelevant aspects of who Cardoso is and one unglamorous incident to highlight his excitement for the tournament. This wasn't a podcast. It was CBS sports. They need to do better.

It is sort of like the outrage over Trump saying something about Mexicans and people losing their minds saying he was racist. I guess those people didn't understand that "Mexican" is not a race.

I guess we'll find out today if Dawn is going to allow the team to play or if she will refuse to play any more games in order to protect her team from any more insensitive comments from reporters.

That incident and the whole fighting thing gave women's basketball more publicity than any game all season. The dirty little secret is that CBS, the advertisers, the SEC and the promoters are delighted at all the publicity. Can you imagine the ratings if we play LSU again? Maybe they should announce an Angel and Cardosa aka The Big Brazilian cage match!

Yep. They are desperate for anything to boost ratings for girls basketball. I was chatting with someone who said they didn't think the committee would want us matching up with LSU in the tourney, given our chippy past. I said they would LOVE it and would probably to try to engineer it b/c they need ratings.

Look for it to happen, IF they makes it that far.

It's not offensive as much as unprofessional. That said, it was a silly commercial on the radio (so how did anyone hear this anyway? do people still listen to the radio?). It was a teaser and actually worked to perfection - what should have been something a handful of people heard, is now nationwide news promoting CBS Sports and the women's tournament. So maybe I take it back - it was very professionally done by someone that really knows how to make advertising work!

I’m really looking forward to the WBB NCAA Tournament. So many stars; like The skinny pale chick from Iowa who whines all the time, and the Bruising inner city kid from Baltimore who taunts her opponents, and of course Kamilla Cardoso.

Should Rick Smits be retroactively offended for being nicknamed "The Dunking Dutchman"?

Yao Ming was called "The walking great wall" which certainly has to be offensive.

IMO none of the above....I'm thinking it was the "woman" part....she may not identify as a she/her and you know how people get with this misgendering nonsense.....in Michigan the dude could be charged with a felony
