Arsenal already up 1-0 at Anfield. Turned it on late, so I'm not sure who scored.

Edit - the goal was scored by Abou Diaby

Liverpool equals at 1-1 thanks to a header by Hyypia from a Steven Gerrard corner. Objectively, it was a great goal. As an Arsenal fan, it was piss poor marking.

Arsenal and Liverpool go into the break tied at 1-1 and 2-2 on aggregate.

Chelsea is up 1-0 on Fenerbahce, with the score 2-2 on aggregate. If this score holds, Chelsea would go through to the semis on the away-goals rule.

Arsenal almost looking like they are playing in quick sand. Either that or Liverpool has 12 men on the field - they seem to win every loose ball and doing a good job of shutting Arsenal down. Still 1-1, though.

Liverpool goes up 2-1, 3-2 on aggregate thanks to a cracker of a goal from Torres.

Arsenal responds by putting on Van Persie and Walcott in the 73rd minute. If they can get a goal, they'd still go through. And as I type that, Adebayour shanked a 1 v. 1 with the GK.

and what a final 10 minutes it was... With about 10 minutes left, Walcott had a fantastic run through 3/4ths of the field that lead to a goal from Adebayour to make it 2-2. Barely two minutes later, Liverpool are awarded what I thought was a questionnable penalty, which Gerrard converted to give Liverpool a 3-2 lead. With Arsenal pushing for an equalizer in extra time, Babel got the ball on a breakaway and scored to seal Liverpool's 4-2 win (5-3 on aggregate).

Is this an American team or something? Where is Arsenal located? I can't tell why we should care about Arsenal soccer?

If you don't care, don't open the friggin post and for Chrissakes, don't take the time to actually click on reply and type two sentences about why you don't care. Just leave it be.

They are located in London, and it's an English soccer team, for your information.

</p>I happen to really like soccer and I was wondering if there was a reason to be a fan of Arsenal. Are the majority of the players from the United States? I never said that I didn't care. I am genuinely curious. You don't have to always be such a jackass. And take your own advice. If you don't like my post, then don't respond to it.

He was probably a jackass because you were a jackass with this comment: "I can't tell why we should care about Arsenal soccer?"

Also, if you are such a fan of soccer, there is no need for a reason to be a fan of Arsenal, per se, but instead a fan of such quality play in matches of the UEFA Champions league. The clubs that make it to this stage are ridiculously talented, and any fan of soccer should be a huge fan of the UEFA Champions League.

But if you hurry, I'm sure you can catch the end of the KC Wizards/NE Revolution match on tonight.

they are one of the best teams in the world, so you'll have more access to extensive media coverage. their matches are often available on american cable tv, and are always available online for free (though perhaps not legally).

nearly their entire team is young players. though perhaps he shouldn't have, their coach stuck to his beliefs and is developing his players from within, instead of just throwing millions of dollars and any player who has one good season. in other words: they aren't the yankees of soccer.

also, their entire team is international talent. if you are a soccer fan, you'll see arsenal players on probably all teams from euro 2008.

they are located in the capital of england. don't neglect this fact. you can combine a trip to london with a trip to the arsenal.

arseblog.com. hilarious daily updates on all things arsenal. and a weekly 'arsecast'.

as a fan of soccer: they play it. their goal is to not only win, but play attractively. their passing and movement is as entertaining as it is technically excellent. a quote from an article on fabregas yesterday, an international star and one of the best players in the world: "We want to enjoy ourselves and play attractive football, for us and also for our fans. We must not forget that football has become a show."

but the most important reason to cheer for arsenal: they aren't tottenham.

His original post came across as being very jackassy.

If Stansfield wants to pull for American players abroad, start rooting for Fulham. Except once they are relegated, they'll probably lose the Yanks.
