Hey everyone, FloWrestling has a big new film coming out on Chance Marsteller and his crazy journey. We are having a premiere this Friday Nov. 15 at noon at the State Theatre in State College, PA and I would like to invite anyone who is able to attend. Tickets are FREE and you can get them here.

We have been making films and documentaries for over a decade and, in my opinion, this is the greatest one we have ever put together in terms of storytelling and production level. It runs right about two-hours long.

Chance will be in attendance and will be doing a Q&A after the film. I hope you can join us.

Thank you for your hard work on this, and for the opportunity to see the premiere in SC…certainly an intriguing story…

…while his family dynamic was what it was, I always wonder if he would have had a less rocky time had he stayed with his original commitment to Penn State….I don’t know why he flipped to OK State, or what his issues were there, but I well remember the infamous meltdown at Lock Haven….

….. later that season, as I was walking out the parking garage heading to a dual, I felt it was so sadly ironic, that Chance, whom I thought could have been one of the star denizens of Rec Hall, and was instead in the situation he was in, walked up to me, a random fan, to ask directions to the building.

On a lighter note, some years earlier, at the “Coaches Caravan” in Camp Hill, Cael was speaking, along with Bill O’Brien and Russ Rose…another fan in the audience asked Cael “Are you familiar with Kennard Dale High School, and with Chance Marstellar…”

…Cael’s reply “Well I’m not allowed to discuss any individual recruit….but I am familiar with the high school!”!

I can tell you what I was told about his recruitment at PSU and it comes from the father of two PSU wrestlers at the time he was being recruited. I was told that after he committed he was visiting PSU and had an incident involving alcohol. He was told to find a new school to attend afterwards.

Whether that is true or not I don’t know, but again my info comes from a father who had two kids on the team at the time.

Maybe this documentary will shed more light on it.

That would make sense, even if disappointing on several levels… it may have been kept quiet in an effort to avoid embarrassment.

I recall that the OTHER four time PIAA Champion that year, I believe Thomas Haines, was asked to step aside when the elder Nevills wanted in; Chance said his flip was NOT related to Haines being bumped.

For as strong as Pennsylvania’s wrestling is, our four time PIAA champs have not had as much success on the NCAA level as one would expect.

Thanks Mark. We will be out of town. What are the other options for seeing this at some point?
