Charlotte leading tackler commits to South Carolina
Charlotte transfer portal linebacker Demetrius Knight II, the 49ers leading tackler and second-leading tackler in all of the AAC this past season, has announced a commitment to South Carolina.

I hesitated to thumbs up because this sounds so negative but also does sound true. The truth of success is in the wins. With all these transfers, coaches from many teams can complain that they have “young” teams.
This kid was a damn good quarterback in high school. He started out at Georgia Tech. He also played safety in high school. He’s an athlete, he’s a senior, he has great foot work and can cover a tight end, a RB,and stop the run. We just got better at linebacker.
Well, we converted 2 QBs to WR and then took one of those and converted him to RB, so a QB converted to LB seems like a natural fit.
You are probably correct about linebacker and that is sort of sad. Georgia Tech isn't exactly a repository of elite football talent and he left there. I doubt he left because he was worried about playing too much and having too gaudy of stats.
It seems to me that if we continue to bring in G5 players, we are eventually going to have a G5 talent level team.
Time will tell, but we certainly got faster and more athletic.
Is it an indictment of our program that transfers from 3-9 Charlotte make us faster and more athletic?
With all the diamonds in the rough we're finding, we should strike up a sponsorship with Da Beers.
I'm sure he is a great athlete but why was he at Charlotte? Was it his dream school or something? When he left GT, why didn't he go to another P5 program?
It's seems we're specializing in the high-risk, high-reward transfers for the most part, hoping we land an Antwane Wells every time.
It should be noted that he was the leading tackler on the 101st ranked scoring defense.
I didn't say he was an All SEC contender or anything. No idea why he left as I don't follow GT football. I have no problem at all with taking a guy that's that fast, with that size, that racked up 96 tackles last year...I don't care what level it was at.
Last year he had 7 tackles and pick 6 vs MD. Against UF he had 8 tackles and a sack. So he's played well against P5 teams that had better years than us.
Why bother…. You’re arguing with people who blasted Debo Williams, being from Delaware.
