'85 is when the tournament expanded to 64 teams and thats what I view as the important period for comparing tournament appearances between coaches, especially since there were also modern things like the shotclock and 3pt line at that point.

But regardless of how you look at things- Jans has done well these two seasons and MSU basketball is relevant. An 8 seed is a top 32 team in the country. Thats awesome to see.

But yes, we need to keep him at 4 years. The main thing we have going for us is he isn't flashy as a recruiter. Hopefully that will scare off bigger programs for a while. And hopefully also some gratitude for giving him another big chance after the bar incident, although that was a pretty minor thing in the grand scheme of things and probably not what was keeping him from getting other P5 offers.
