There is some logic behind the choice to take the ball first in the new OT format, and it would've made sense if they were playing anyone other than the most clutch QB in the NFL. Even if the 49ers get the touchdown in OT, there's little doubt that the Chiefs don't march down the field and score the touchdown plus the 2pt conversion.
