so far Coach Franklin has not had a situation where one of the 5* players coming in has had big NIL $$$ so carrying national name brand. A player like Drew Allar has a lot of cache, but don't think he is coming in with a large deal of any kind. JF is very similar to JoePa on how he handles these players as FR and also if they get of course for any reason. Not sure that any coach welcomes pressure from financial sponsors, but think JF would have big issues with this. Not sure how he would react to sponsors telling him that one of his "high priced" recruits should be playing.

There are so many facets to a HC position at a P5 school. Imagine being responsible for 100+ 18-22 year old sons. I can't....no one here can.
Assuming that CJF is taking a cautious approach to the whole NIL is likely correct. I don't see PSU ever being a destination for the 5 star player looking to go to the highest bidder. While the fan boys would love it, I'm not sure this sort of deep dive will pay off in the long run.
I think regulation is coming (from what source I'm not sure), I just don't think the wild west is sustainable.
PSU players hopefully will be subsidized to improve their bottom line, but I don't see any of them getting rich here.

Sadly, if we have some FR have a breakout year and say garner FR AA status, pretty sure there will be schools through these NIL organizations encouraging that player to enter portal based on what they will offer.

Will not be CJFā€™s fault, but he will be blamed. PSU boosters will not keep up with schools like some of the SEC, OSU, etc.

It's only getting harder. Now instead of recruiting players until LOI day coaches essentially have to recruit their own roster 24x7x365, with zero sort of commitment or assurance players will stay another day. It's obvious other schools are illegally tampering and trying to lure committed players to transfer by any means necessary. I would hate to do this job, it's certainly a lot of pressure on the coaches. I don't know the answer that creates the right balance of benefits for athletes, coaches and universities that is also able to be governed easily and complies with recent court rulings, NCAA rules and promotes balanced competition. It seems like an impossible task.

That's why they get paid the big bucks.

Very true. Imagine Nick Singleton has a breakout freshman campaign. He'll have offers (ala Jordan Addison) from all over the country for big $$.

Or, for that matter ... imagine the offers Saquon would have received after his sophomore season.

Maybe CJF can use some NIL money to take a web based seminar on clock management (I crack myself up) šŸ˜Ž

Honestly, I approve what seems to be his approach. Winning will help counter the pull of NIL elsewhere... and I really approve of his desire to build a "team is family" mindset. He may not yet be a top tier in game coach but I'm guessing JVP would approve his sense of ethics and success with honor approach... as apposed to the Jimbos and Kellys of the world.
