And yet people complain about student-athletes sitting out games or entering the transfer portal. How can one complain when coaches do this...
This is more like if a player entered the portal after the season ended, then announcing he committed to school A, and then suddenly we see him show up at school B as the semester starts. Does not affect anything in-season.

I assumed Coach Chaos, with his ability to coach and his aptitude in recruiting, would not stay at Duke very long before moving to a bigger program, but I did not think it would happen this quickly…

Coach Spencer seemed like an awesome dude, but after a couple years of John Scott as DL coach - I really think Chaos was highly overrated. He wasn’t a great recruiter, and while we racked up a lot of sacks under him, it always felt like our pass rush completely disappeared when we needed it most.

There is no denying your last comment about the pass rush.

When he was here wasn't the philosophy to rotate regularly to keep guys fresh?

Well, that depends if he actually signed a contract or verbally agreed to a contract. We don't know that.

A better analogy might be a recruit who verbally committed to school A, and then got an offer from school B, so decommitted from A and committed to B.

Except he's an adult, and a verbal acceptance of a deal is still a legally enforceable "contract." I think it's a really bad look. Of course, didn't our new DC, Manny Diaz, accept a head coaching job with Temple and then within days jumped to Miami?

With the way that today's fans demand wins as if it is their birthright, I don't blame players or coaches for doing whatever they think in in their best interest.

Huh? Verbal isn't legally binding for either side.

As bad as this looks on its face, I highly doubt this dude straight up ghosted duke. I’m sure there were conversations going on behind the scenes. But that’s all speculation, as……. NONE OF US KNOW HOW THIS HAPPENED.

Are you saying a verbal agreement is never enforceable? If so, you would be incorrect.

I am aware that in places like California verbal contracts exist (poor Lisa Kudrow actually had a prior contract with the guy), but for the rest of normal civilized society you need that signature, especially for six, seven, and greater figure numbers. For anyone to suggest otherwise is nuts.

so he goes to the G-men for 2 years and winds up back doing the same thing (DL coach) at a lower school than Penn State. not exactly the trajectory you would hope for if you are Sean.
I thought he went to Florida

Not sure I would call Florida lower than PSU, lateral move possibly.
