Coach, Spurrier is making you look dumber and dumber.

That ol' "Spurrier will have the Gamecocks in Atlanta within four years" prediction is looking worse every year. With tonight's horrific performance, they also look like they will be heading for the bottom third of the conference in total offense for the third time in your hero's four years.

Who was the idiot that said EJ left because he wanted to be part of a program with an explosive offense? It took Stevie Wonder 50 minutes to mount a decent drive. Against Mike *!#*%## Archer at that.

they don't finish in the top 20 in total defense. Name your stakes.

I say 7 at best. They limped past an average ACC team at home. NC State lost their starting QB early in the game also. UGa, UT, UF, and Clemson will beat them.

"They limped past an average ACC team at home"

When did 34-0 become "limping past" someone?

They play Georgia and Tenn at home (beat Georgia last yr and lost in OT @ Tenn), LSU and UPig at home...their SEC road games include Vandy, Mississippi, and Kentucky...
Basically 11 starters back on D and Smelley at QB..better running game...

Wow, betting the farm on this one, aren't you? Might as well throw in a couple of Number 2 pencils while your feeling frisky. BTW, why DO they call you Peaches?

I won't bet with you because I don't like internet betting, but if I did, I'd definitely take that bet. SC does have a very good defense, and they could very easily be Top 20 in the country this fall. Barring a rash of injuries like the ones they had last year on the defensive side of the ball midseason, they should be a Top 20 defense.

...the best thing about this thread is that you just admitted that being called "Peaches" bothers you. Good luck getting rid of that moniker now, Peaches. And by the way, Peaches, even if you won that bet (which you wouldn't), then I'm sure Peaches would be against the rules just like, say, 'Ricky' and 'Crooms.'

Nice work.

then what would watching one of our games be? Hell, they did it the Sylvester Crooms way- wear em down and put em away in the 4th quarter...

they hung 34 on a bcs team that is middle of the road acc and didn't let them score. Neither state nor om will do that to their lesser opponents this saturday. Oh, and the wishbone seems to be working in atlanta. </p>

how could a genius like Spurrier have that hack as a starting qb? And SC would've had 0 points at the half had it not been for a turnover deep in their territory. I'll admit, I fell asleep at 20-0 after NC State blew coverage. But the first 3 quarters were like sitting in Starkville. They can't afford to play like that in conference games.

And let's not forget that NC State did lose its QB and had to put some joke in there. Amato really didn't leave a lot.

I'm talking worse than State. (Edit: after their QB went down) And when you're defense is picking up all the slack for a no-go offense, a fresh QB has it a little easier.

Even though I agree that Beecher just looked God-awful. Don't know what he showed in practice. I felt sorry for him.

the only difference was SC's offense scored the points, not the defense...Smelley showed he could be a functional QB, if not solid...they have a good running game...good WR's...and what could be the SEC's top defense...they have a chance to be a very good football team this year

his players called him "Peaches" in honor of the way he sashsayed on the practice field. Or, as ol blue so eloquently put it, "there's a hitch in his giddyup."</p>

NC State flat out sucks. I don't care if their starting QB went down. SC couldn't pick up any stunts or blitzes the first half, the quarterback practically gave NC State the first half and NC State still couldn't score. And as the game went on you could see NC State with the weakness in depth and weaker players on the field- crap, a LB with about a 40 lbs. advantage got run over by SC third string RB. NC State sucks. I will say this though, Spurrier is a great coach- but he has a long way to go to get top SEC talent on the field. It's just not there.

I even somewhat agree with you. But you said you were impressed with Carolina because they did it the Croom way. You said nothing about Smelley. Hell Carroll has put up Smelley's numbers before.

Just admit this.

8dog said watching them was brutal...They won 34-0. So I asked if watching them was brutal, winning 34-0...what did that make watching us? Then I eloquently showed him they how they wore NC St down and then put it to them in the 4th, just like Crooms likes to do. Except they did it in dominating fashion, not sqeeking by...</p>

NC State is middle of the road ACC team? Now that's funny... I can think of 9 teams better than NC State in the ACC possibly 10, so I don't think NC State is any where near a middle of the road ACC team. You get 4 TO's and don't score, then you aren't middle of road in anything.

5 for 20 passing. If our quarterback was 5 for 20, me nor anyone else on this board would be singing the praises of the opposing defense. The reason Im not totally sold on SC's defense is they still allowed a 100 yard rusher. But they are certainly capable of being very good.
