I know that most people on this site despise footballscoop.com, but I saw a couple of interesting things listed.

1. Memphis' new DC is former Ole Miss and USM defensive coach-Jay Hopson- who had been at Michigan as a LB coach. I know that he was pretty good defensively and was a very good recruiter.

2. Kansas has hired former Sly Croom assistant JB Grimes to be its new OL coach. Why? He was completely incompetent. Do the few black head coaches in college football go out of their way to sabotage their programs by hiring idiots like Grimes and Torbush?

Couple things:

1) Grimes may have sucked but after seeing the O-line this year, I think it was more so Croom having them trying to "zone block" in that West Coast offense. I think any OL coach would have sucked trying to work with an O-line in that scheme.

2) Mullen hired Torbush and he's not black. Was he also trying to sabotage the MSU program?

was done on the fly to quickly put together a staff. It would be interesting to note if as the rumors go, that Torbush was told to shop his skills. Also to note, Torbush led defenses haven't faired well in the Spread offense era. Grimes was my example of hires by both Croom and Gill: Grimes and Torbush are examples of hires that can give your program problems. Whether fair or not, Grimes is partly responsible for recruiting the OL since he was the OL coach and was part of that 11 sack beat down at %!@% in 2008 where the OL was completely confused and manhandled.
