I have noticed that some coaches who have been high level QBs in college (i.e. Jeff Brohm, Steve Spurrier, etc), are not afraid to replace a QB that is having struggles, and still come back to the same player later. That is they treat the QB like any other spot - if you dont perform we put someone in who can perform. JF has had a tendency to not do this, but with the one exception last year when Will Levis briefly replaced SC. I recall Trace playing very injured v Iowa, and Tommy came in and bailed us out.....but later Trace came back limping. Trace scored a TD (surprise run) and as JF said you could have timed him with a sun dial - that is Trace was NOT in good shape.
I am sure rotating QBs vs staying with starter each have pros/cons. Would PSU improve if we put more edge on the competition between QBs, and pulled QB when not performing? Personally, I am on the fence on this, but some good coaches do not hesitate to pull starters.
What would have happened in the Rutgers game if Sean had not fallen funny and had another injury that forced him to the tent? Would he have continued to play and would the coaches kept him in the game?
